Jeremy Lind
I just got done confirming the names of the people that I believe are at the top of the list of possible replacements for Dan McCarney. The names are based on those that I have heard thrown around by those very close to the situation at hand.
As far as names that I have heard, they differ from what others are reporting a little bit. Here are the current top names from what I have heard this afternoon. - San Diego HC Jim Harbaugh
- UTEP HC Mike Price
- Texas Defensive Coordinator Gene Chizik
- LSU Defensive Coordinator Bo Pelini
- Arizona Cardinals Offensive Line Coach Steve Loney
- Pitt Defensive Coordinator Paul Rhodes
- Nebraska Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell
- Broncos Assistant Tim Brewster
- Wisconsin Offensive Coordinator Paul Chryst
Also to confirm, the Football Banquet will be held next Friday night instead of in December as previously planned.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Jeremy, JP is allowed to talk to Cordinators whose teams are in bowl games right. It is just the head coaches he isnt allowed to talk to.

How old is Mike Price? If it was him he might not be around that long. Since Kragthorpe isn't on the list, I'd go for Chizik. Great coordinator, but how good is he at recruiting? It's not hard to recruit at Auburn and UT.

Pellini is looking to MSU over us, which is fine, but would he always keep that eye open for better if he was with us? No long term?

One quick thing, there will be at least one name not on any lists that will also be in the running. There is always a dark horse and a stealth option.

I am also still wondering why Jim Harbaugh would want to leave San Diego for Iowa State. I know that it is a Division II school but his family lives there.

I think Harbaugh is the one who has expressed "warm interest" in the job. Only basing that on other rumors but they seem to connect.
But anyone in the top 4 four seem pretty good. I like the Pelini one because I think he would like to show up our neighbors to the west.
Interesting list considering most people outside ISU think we can't do better than dmac. Listening to them, I was thinking we could only get high schools coaches.....

you dog!
What about Larry Coyer? Maybe not for HC but a assistant...he dominating with the Brocos Defense this year and he had a Ames stint for few years. I believe when Loney was here?

I hope Mac can land in one of the other jobs he is being linked to. It looks a little like we are kicking him to the curb, but after the way the team has played this year it was going to be pretty hard to sell ticket next year without some changes.

I would assume we won't hear about a replacement until a few days after the Missouri game.
I'm guessing there would be some sort of silent agreement with someone over the next week or week and a half?

Jeremy, do you have any knowledge of Chizik's perceived recruiting ability? He's the one from the list that really intrigues me.
