Re: ISU FB - Coaching Search Update

I agree that Brewster does not have the experience that I would like to see. But right now we are in a position where we need to grab the guy with enough of the talents that we see as positives. Obviously there is not going to be a huge talent out there with experience at high levels with all of the positives and not cost money and be direct competition from higher name programs. I like that Brewster has good experience with recruiting, Texas connections, NFL connections and a strong knowledge of the TE position and blocking which can translate into finding a good OL coach who can also direct blocking. I think with his connections also he can get some good coordinators. He is #1 on my list, which only matters to me right now obviously.

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

As for Brewster, he has proven himself as a good position coach and his NFL connections should help with recruiting but I wish he had some Offensive Coordinator exp. and not just TE/ Special teams exp.
I'm more concerned about the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, he has seen how an NFL offense is run but it doesn't sound like he has done much defensively. Maybe he could bring in someone like Bill Belicheck to be his DC.

If there's a 'head and shoulders' guy, out of these four it has to be Chizik. This guy is respected tremendously in the college football world.

How about we get Gary Patterson from TCU?

I agree that the Mac people will be calling for blood, and look foolish due to the fact that after 12 years, we may very well go winless in the conference AGAIN (not a put down, just reality)

The majority of us who lost confidence in Mac, are patient, how in the world do any of the Mac people think that there wasn't patience with him??? As he said in the press conference, 8 other coaches have been at their schools longer than him. AND THOSE PEOPLE HAVE ACTUALLY HAD REAL SUCCESS. On the field, not spun.

The next coach has to show people that he can lead the program, and not look OVERMATCHED on the sidelines. If he can do this, and give people a REAL reason to believe, then he will be here long enough to be successful.

If the people who are trying to impose their wills on this board will just be honest with themselves for a moment, they will realize that Dan McCarney had MULTIPLE opportunities to prove himself.
