Cyclones Form Iowa Games WBB Team

AMES, Iowa – The past, present and future of Cyclone women’s basketball will be on display Saturday as several players have formed a team to play in the Iowa Games.

ISU returners Heather Ezell and Alison Lacey will play with newcomers Whitney Williams and Ashley Arlen. Former Cyclone Abby Reinert Blome will also join the team so that five of the seven players on the “Twister Sisters” squad have links to the program.

Don't they have rules against the number of division 1 players/former players you can have on your team?

A few years back we used to get a flag football team together each year and there was a limit on 2 division 1 players per team. We played Seneca Wallace and Atif Austin's team one year. That was a close game.

If they don't win it, then I want the people that beat them on our team as well!

Copying and pasting a post I made at hoopscoop.net:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISU returners Heather Ezell and Alison Lacey will play with newcomers Whitney Williams and Ashley Arlen. Former Cyclone Abby Reinert Blome will also join the team so that five of the seven players on the “Twister Sisters” squad have links to the program.
In reality it's six of the seven as Amanda Zimmerman, an upcoming high school senior, verballed to ISU three years ago. Since it's not official until she signs this fall, cyclones.com has to pretend she's not connected to ISU in any way.

The remaining player on their team according to the Iowa Games website is Callie Sobaski. She's a 6-1 senior post at St. Ambrose.

The eight teams playing:
PETERSON: SHOES UNTIED -- former/current Sioux Center HS players
OSKALOOSA: CENTRAL DUTCH -- former/current Central College players
CEDAR RAPIDS: IOWA LADIES -- former UNI/Iowa players and some other former Div I players
MAXWELL: URBAN BONDU -- misc non-Div I players
ALTOONA: KIRKWOOD ALUMNI -- former Kirkwood CC players
AMES: TWISTER SISTERS -- former/current/future ISU players
CEDAR RAPIDS: COE COLLEGE I -- former/current/future Coe College players
CEDAR RAPIDS: COE COLLEGE II -- former/current/future Coe College players

Not only does Coe have two teams playing, the Coe College head coach (former UIowa player Randi Peterson) is playing on Iowa Ladies.

Link to the schedule

The Twister Sisters play their first game at 9am (Coe II). They will also be playing roughly at 1pm (Kirkwood) and 5pm (Urban). The 3rd place game is roughly at 8pm, and the championship game is roughly at 9pm. All games are at the community center (city hall building).

I'll be in town for the Iowa Games (playing disc golf on Saturday). I'll miss the 1pm game for my competition, but I'll try to make it to the others.

A few years back we used to get a flag football team together each year and there was a limit on 2 division 1 players per team.
Flag football has the following eligibility rules:
ELIGIBILITY
A. All athletes must be eighteen (18) years of age prior or older by July 18, 2008
B. No person who is currently or in the last year is/was a member of a professional football team is allowed to
participate.
C. No more than two (2) student athletes from a current NCAA Division I or Division II institution may participate
on a team.
D. All players must be prepared to provide proof of Iowa residence at the tournament.
The basketball rules do not mention any eligibility rules at all (not even the professional player rule).
