Pollard Introduces Billboard to Cedar Valley Cyclone Club
The billboard will rest on I-380 in Cedar Rapids mid-July throught mid-September.
June 1, 2006

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard displayed a new billboard to the Cedar Valley Cyclone Club on Thursday that will rest on I-380 in Cedar Rapids mid-July through mid-September. Pollard introduced the billboard to commemorate ISU's athletic achievements in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series.

"We are honored and excited to have possession of the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk trophy," Pollard said. "It is a tangible sign of the outstanding team effort by all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff during the past year."

The Cyclones garnered wins in soccer, football, men's and women's basketball and gymnastics (twice) in the 2005-06 athletic season to win the Series 13-6. Two points will also be awarded to an institution if the student-athlete graduation rate for all student-athletes is greater than the national average for all student-athletes, according to the annual graduation rate report issued each September/October by the NCAA.

The billboard was introduced to more than 500 ISU fans at the function and will rest just south of 33rd Avenue in southwest Cedar Rapids along the west side of I-380.

"We really appreciate the opportunity that Hy-Vee has provided, to both the University of Iowa and to Iowa State University, to showcase two of the strongest athletic programs in the country," Pollard said. "Our student-athletes, coaches and staff are 100% committed to continuing to work extremely hard this summer and next school year to make sure we keep the trophy in Ames for the foreseeable future."

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Very nice, I only wish I could see it once it's put up. I can just imagine the anger that will draw from all the Hawk fans.

As one infamous drunk Pukeye dumba#* announcer used to say (between drinks)...............I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pollard is impressing me more and more and more as time goes on.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

This is classic Pollard style! He isn't gonna let a few Hawks get in his way. This is truly an "in your face" message to the Hawkeye Nation that we are tired of being the step child athletic program in this state.

As a former Linn County native, I must say, that is FRIGGIN AWESOME!!! They shoulda put it on I-380 between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, one in both directions.

This guy is the real deal... and I am just cyk'd for the future of ISU!!!

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

It's great to increase our presence in the state. Love what Pollard is working on, he doesn't seem to cower from the Hawkeyes presence in the state.
