Team prISUm finishes 8th in Solar Car Race

Thought I'd post for all interested.

The Iowa State Solar Car Team, Team prISUm, finished up 8th in the American Solar Car Challenege.

Michigan ended up winning it by quite a margin. There's a couple interns from Michigan I work with and we were talking about the race.

Congrats to the team!

Welcome to Team PrISUm

"I just back into town and I hear all this stuff, and Buster Olney is making my team up now and [Genske] wants to tell me who is going to pitch here. No one is going to tell us who to put on our team and no one on ESPN is going to tell us who should pitch for my team. " -Gardy

congrats to them!

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I assume the Iowa they are talking about below is ISU???

Iowa, Durham and Oregon State did not meet the required number of laps for qualifying, but did qualify enough drivers, and meet all safety requirements so they were allowed to continue provided they made it to McAlester without trailering. Iowa met this requirement, and are now considered a regular entry with a 2:35 penalty for not finishing qualifying. Durham and Oregon did not meet the requirement to get to McAlester, so they are now non-competitive entries. They will be allowed to continue on the event, but will not be ranked higher than other teams.

Yea I've been looking into that and it seems Iowa has no Solar Car, so sadly...yes

Found the Sol Invictus blogspot, and it seems that's the case

So, I'm wondering why they chose a "Hershey Bar cambered airfoil shape".

Those are generally concerned to be a very high drag configuration in the aviation field.

Anyone who has knowledge as to why that choice?
