With the incredible growth and activity on the site causing some potential issues and headaches for everybody, I am outlining below the steps that will be taken and what that means for the site going forward. We are trying very had to keep things on topic and running smoothly, here is how we will do it going forward.
1. Clear and fair rules are being written right now to allow everybody to know exactly what is and isn't allowed on the site and forum.
2. I will refrain from posting my opinion on the site as much as possible. I am a fan like everybody and sometimes it's difficult to hold back.
3. The moderating team will moderate using the new rules that will be posted later today or tonight. The moderators will give warnings and try to be as fair and open minded as possible while also making sure to keep the garbage out of the streets.
4. There will not be any "crackdown" or mass banning of people on the site, period. We all like different opinions and there is no intention of banning anybody that is debating or otherwise discussing things without using vulgarity, obscenities, slanderous or otherwise erroneous remarks.
5. While I'm not an official reporter, I do understand that a lot of people read what is on this site. All articles will now be given to somebody to proof-read before I post it to make sure things aren't portrayed incorrectly. It's easy to know what I'm talking about when I read over my work but others don't always have the benefit of knowing everything that went into the story.
All attempts will be made to make sure everybody on the site feels welcome and comfortable coming here. The value I get out of running this website is knowing that other people are getting excited about Iowa State Athletics. All I ask in return for this site is that people have fun and keep it civil. We all have the same end-goals and ideas, it's time everybody acted like it, regardless of what our opinions are on the small things.
Now that we're the biggest, fastest moving, and most active Cyclone website there are going to be some individuals that come to our world with the intent on disrupting our way of life. It needs to be the job of every one of us to make sure they don't succeed. Don't feed the "trolls" or they'll just keep coming back. We just need to kick them back under the bridge where they belong.
Thank you for making this site a success and I look forward to the long future we all have discussing ISU Athletics together. The best is yet to come, not only for Iowa State, but for the features and things we have in the works for this great community of fans.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Lind

P.S. Thank you for all the emails over the past 12 hours offering help and advice. I appreciate it very much. I will continue to read all of the emails but I just don't have the time right now to respond to them, I will try to going forward. I do appreciate it though!

Thanks Jeremy, your hard work is appreciated.
I do think however, that you don't need #2 in your list. Most of us value, appreciate and look forward to your opinion on ISU Athletics. Please continue providing it!

I agree with ISUFan22. Don't let a few people change what you do, Jeremy!! Your opinions are too valuable to the rest of us. :)

Well, I can give opinions on where I think things are headed from sources but I won't be giving opinions as far as player vs player, etc. It's not fair to have my opinions on the frontpage without other people having that same benefit. I can keep those to the forums:)

What about creating a Jeremy #2 screenname? Or something much more clever where you can give your opinions, discuss, etc. I think a lot of people like hearing your opinion, me included. This way you can separate "professional Jeremy" with "Fan Jeremy".

The forums and responses to front page posts - I expect to read your opinions. I mean, if you can give your opinion on your very own free site - where can you give it? | |

Keep doing what you're doing, Jeremy. Some rules are a good idea, but please don't give up. Keep posting your opinions and insights (just label them as such to make it clear to those few who need the clarification). If you shut down Cyclone Fanatic, the terrorists have won. | Walk hard

I like this site because of the opinions, it keeps things interesting around here. I think that once football season is over and we get a new coach (hopefully Harbaugh) that people will quit with the ******** and moaning all of the time, at least until the next thing comes up. Basketball should lighten the spirits of many ISU fans as well, they have a lot of bright spots this season.
