AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women’s basketball head coach Bill Fennelly returned to his roots as an assistant coach for a few weeks in July, becoming a part of the USA Women's U18 National Team staff. Fennelly helped coach the team to an undefeated 5-0 record and a gold medal in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Women in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The U.S. dominated competition, with its closest game being a 16-point win over Canada. The U.S. team swept through the competition by knocking off Venezuela (112-49), Canada (72-56), Puerto Rico (116-36), Brazil (96-51) and Argentina (81-37).
