Also, one of the other four committed members of this squad is Michigan's Jessica Schroll. She blew out a knee a year or two ago but looked to be full go at the recent elite camp in Ames (all four were there, getting to know one another -- cool).
Schroll's high school coach has said that he believes Schroll is a national top 15 player (but the injury set her back, recognition-wise), considering her talent and game (I'm paraphrasing as I recall it).
Another question for ISU WBB experts here: Is this Bill's best-ever ISU class?

This is awesome news!!
I thing Pierson was ranked in the 50-60 range and Medders may have been in that range as well. It's all irrelevant though, I remember J.Horkey (same class as Medders) was ranked#80 or something by Blue Star. These are all off of memory though - too lazy to try and research right now.

Even though she's one of the top players in the nation, I love the fact that we probably won't have to worry about her leaving for the pros after only a year or two at Iowa State. I'm not sure what the WNBA salaries are like, but hopefully she'll be serious about getting her degree first.
Way to go Bill!!!

If I recall correctly, the minimum is around $35,000 per year while the maximum is around $100,000. So unless that vastly changes, I couldn't foresee players leaving early for the pros. The only reason that Candace Parker left early for the WNBA is she had already received her college degree.

The WNBA doesn't allow early entry unless the player has graduated (like the Candace Parker example above). Otherwise the Paris twins would have gone bye-bye already.

That's great as Bill's offense seems to flow much better with strong post play.

Can't give enough credit to BF! He is a darn good coach and apparently loves Ames! We are lucky to have a coach like him!

Looking at Blue Star (archive.org, because I couldn't find their old rankings after they did a site redesign), ISU's best class was 97-98, ranked 11th. This was the class that brought in Angie Welle, Tracy Gahan, and Desiree Francis (although I'm not sure if they count jucos).
The highest rated player to go to ISU out of high school (according to blue star) was Kate Baumann at #41. Anne O'Neil was #11 but transferred to ISU from Illinois. Nina Smith was #1 but spent only one year at ISU redshirting from her transfer from Wisconsin. Katie Robinette ws #14 but transferred from Nebraska.
Medders, Horkey, Pierson, Welle were all in the 65-100 range.
