Staigers Team Wins Title

AMES, Iowa –Lucca Staiger will return to Ames with a championship ring. Staiger was a member of Germany’s U20 national team that captured the 2008 FIBA U20 Division B European Championship in Targu Mures, Romania last week. The Germans were undefeated in the tournament (8-0), capping their title run with a 110-102 double-overtime victory over Belgium in the championship game. The win assures the German team a move up to Division A next season.

Staiger, a native of Blaustein, Germany, had an off night offensively vs. the Belgium squad, scoring just six points. However, Staiger was second on the team in rebounding (8) and dished out a team-high four assists to help his team win the title.

I am pretty sure that thought will cross everyone's mind when they read that. . .

Good for Lucca though, he was a pretty instrumental part of their championship run and it will be fun to see him this fall back in Ames.
