AMES, Iowa –After being forced to sit out his freshman season at Iowa State, Lucca Staiger is getting a crash course in Basketball 101 this summer. Staiger is having fun playing basketball again. He was instrumental in helping his German national team win the 2008 FIBA U20 European Division B title last week thanks to his late-game heroics.
In the championship game vs. Belgium, the Germans were down by six points with less than a minute to go. That is when Staiger stepped up. More...

After watching the Olympics and seeing how the short 3 point line changes the game for NBA players, I was wondering if this line was shorter then the college line and how that might change Lucca's game and his 3-point shooting, anyone have any insight on that?

The rules regarding the three point line have been changing across the board and it's either this year or next year that they're supposed to condense down even further. I can't recall the specifics off the top of my balding head.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

International has it at 20 ft 6 Inches
College has it at 19 feet 9 Inches
I am just wondering how this will effect Mr. Saiger, hopefully in a positive way!

It appears as though Luca has not lost that 3point touch we all were hearing about last season.... This is good as i see him being a huge contributor this coming season.

From what I've heard, he may be the best shooter in Cyclone history when he's done, bar none. Seriously.

I think that this is great. Not only is he proving that he can shoot in game situations, not only is he shooting an amazing percentage, but he is doing it when the game is on the line!
Here's to hoping that Lucca can hit two late three's in Hilton to help win a game!
Go Lucca! See you this winter!

If Staiger isn't returning till Tuesday, how does he work out his classes and attendance and such? I know it's only the first week or whatever, but still...
