Cyclone Coaching Carousel - Round 1120

Cyclone Coaching Carousel - Round 1120

As discussed over the weekend, Pollard was interviewing candidates late last week in Dallas and he conducted two or three more yesterday and possibly today. The number of candidates interviewed stands at around 4-6, depending on the source.

From everything I know and have heard as recently as 3 minutes ago from sources, Jim Harbaugh is still the leader. I have not heard anything to believe that any other candidate is taking over the top spot as of right now but at least one is getting "a few extra minutes of consideration" as one source put it. The top candidates at this moment appear to be Harbaugh as the leader; Price, Kragthorpe, Kelly and Patterson all in second place; with the others being third place or lower. Price and Kragthorpe are really picking up interest and have interviewed, and Brewster seems to be dropping in the eyes of my sources. Kelly is still in the pack but is not as well received by some of the people that I talked to.

The only change currently taking place to my knowledge is a possible pushing back of the time-line just a bit. Instead of an announcement early this week, it could possibly be early next week before any "formal" announcements are made. Jamie Pollard wants a big introduction for his new guy and he can't do that with the students and band members on break. Non-formal announcements or comments may be made this week but no celebration will come until next Monday at the earliest. I do believe that the candidate will be signed this week with a "Big-Time" Announcement coming next Monday with the band, a pep-rally, etc.

As far as candidates being on campus this past weekend or this coming week, I can't get into that without giving away sources or information that would hinder things to some degree. I do not have first-hand knowledge of arrangements that I would feel comfortable giving out at this time. I know that Pollard was gone yesterday doing some interviews but that is all that can be released right now.

I want to stress that this is all based on sources and rumors. All of the above information is from numerous discussions with numerous people but is in no way the only way things could progress.

A lot of news could be close to coming out so stay tuned...

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I'm glad JP is interviewing multiple candidates.

Jeremy, is there interest from Kragthorpe and Patterson? There must be a little if they interviewed...

Not Jeremy, but I don't think Patterson has interviewed as of yesterday anyway.

Seems like Price must have really impressed in the interview. Before today, he appeard to be just another 'also-ran'. I would be fine with any of the four 'leaders'.

Arrived in STL via Ames, IA & Bloomington, IN!

Patterson would be an absolute coup.

There's a storm brewin', and it's named Cyclone Gene.

Price's track record excluding the strippers is impressive.

Yes he would! If Pollard could lure him to Ames, then he just might be the best AD around!

Given how ISU handled the Eustachey situation and also Morgan - with the D1 thing factoring in to him being let go...I'd be real shocked if ISU hired Price.

While his mistakes are behind him, it would still be a bit of an about-face from ISU to hire such a coach.

I think the media would be all over ISU if they hired him, mainly because him and Eustachey where let go at the same time for similar reasons.

Of the people being listed now, I'd rank them as follows...

Patterson
Harbaugh/Kragthorpe
Price
Kelly
Brewster

If that happened, we should start drawing up the statue right now.

Once an announcement is made, no matter who it is, this household will be very excited for the coming years. I'm trusting JP to do the right thing, who ever that turns out to be.

It would be interesting to see Patterson at a Big 12 school...this past season there was some anti-Big 12 trash talking coming from TCU players prior to the TCU/TT and TCU/BU games, and also last year before the ISU bowl game.
