Iowa State is fresh off a 57-49 win over Norfolk State Sunday afternoon to remain perfect on the season at 4-0...the Cyclones could never really pull away from the Spartans, committing 19 turnovers, including 11 in the first half...
ISU also struggled from the field, shooting a season-low 37.7 percent...it marked the first time this season where
ISU did not shoot better than its opponent...the Cyclones received another strong effort from true freshman Wesley Johnson, who posted his second double-double of the young season with a career-high 15 points and 10 boards...Johnson also swatted away a career-high three shots, increasing his team-leading block total to seven...he has recorded a block in all four games this season...Corey McIntosh tallied eight points and handed out a career-high five dimes without a turnover in the win...Mike Taylor was held in check for the first time this season, scoring a season-low eight points...it was the first time this year where Taylor did not lead
ISU in scoring...however, Taylor had five assists and a career-high four steals...the Cyclones continued to play good enough defense to compensate for their shooting woes...

Minnesota boasts a 2-0 record after a pair of wins at home against North Dakota State (63-49) and Long Island (70-54)...the Gophers have received an immediate boost from Lawrence McKenzie, who transferred to UM from Oklahoma...McKenzie, a 6-2, 175-pound junior guard from Minneapolis, leads UM in scoring (22.0 ppg), reaching the 20-point mark in both games...he posted a double-double vs. North Dakota State (20 points, 10 rebounds) and tallied 24 against Long Island, drilling 5-of-8 shots from downtown...on the season, McKenzie is shooting 57.1 percent (8-14 3FG) from 3-point range...junior forward Dan Coleman is averaging 18.0 ppg and 5.5 rpg...Coleman had 23 points against Long Island...center Spencer Tollackson is the team’s top rebounder, averaging 7.0 rpg...he grabbed 10 boards and recorded four blocks in the win over Long Island...in its two games, UM is holding its opponents to just 29.8 percent shooting, including a 18.6 percent from 3-point range...the Gophers have already blocked 21 shots (10.5 bpg) this season...Gopher head coach Don Monson is 0-1 lifetime vs. Iowa State, falling to the Cyclones, 63-54 in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament (Charlotte, N.C.)...Monson is 3-10 lifetime as a head coach vs. Big 12 teams (
