Can you frickin feel the love? ISU WINS!

What a win, what a learning experience, oh I love it!

ISU plays great and downs Minnesota after fighting from behind.

ISU 68, Min 63

Quick Notes:

TEAM: Determined, sloppy at times, tried new things, energized, had fun, learned a lot, fewer turnovers, great togetherness.

TAYLOR: Stud, stud, stud. Shot a lot but made enough. Great energy, tenacity, rebellious, fun, I love him.

CLARK: You know it, he's our man. He's got our backs and the Top Ten Dunks Highlight Video.

MCDERMOTT: Big XII Coach of the Year for what he's teaching these kids. Amazing is the only word to describe the work he's done already. Start building the statue, we're gonna need it:)

Disclaimer: This post is optimistic and expresses what a lot of fans are feeling about the MBB program right now, estatic.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

We're going to have a love/hate relationship with Taylor. Tonight, it was mostly love!

Wow...did not see that coming at halftime. Great half time adjustments by GMac.

Fanatic #25 - Its not the size of the green rep bar that matters, it's how you use it!

Re: Can you frickin feel the love? ISU WINS!

I must admit I predicted this young inexperienced team to lose on their first road test. Seeing the good coaching of GM and good execution of the team, I honestly think we can win on the road a few more times this season.

I predict we win at Iowa, over Bradley and maybe at UNI as well - only if we can play a solid defense coming down the stretch and if someone other than Mike Taylor helps out as well.

Tonight was all Mike Taylor. Even Clark fell short of my expectations.

Go cyclones!

Would have liked to have seen better free throw shooting down the stretch since that doomed us a couple times last season, but otherwise what a great game. 5-0 never felt better.

What is the single biggest key to winning on the road, in tough environments?

Solid defense.

Of course, that's my opinion. Yet, shooting can be tough on the road (unless you're Mike Taylor) so you're going to have bad shooting nights.

But if you can play hellish defense and rebound well on the road (or at home of course), you're in a good position to get wins.

Clark usually falls short of my expectations. He needs to get going and go off! The guy has so much potential.

Please tell me somebody has a clip of that dunk in the first half! I was at the bar (due to KCRG sucking and not showing it) and the place went crazy!

5-0 with a win over a Big Ten opponent ON THE ROAD! INCREDIBLE. That was a blast. What is this that I see: Rebounding? Defense? Hustle? Effort? Congratulations to the Cyclones! Great Win!!!

I have to say it was great seeing man to man defense again. Floyd and Eustachy converted us all to believers, and that zone was just killing me.

It's great having a coach that can make adjustments through the game, hopefully our new football coach will be able to do the same thing. Good job Clones!!

I thought Jessen Grey played really well tonight too. For all the well-deserved hoopla Taylor is getting, I think Grey's three may have been the biggest of the whole night. Clark also played great defense and had a key steal there at the end as well.

Re: Can you frickin feel the love? ISU WINS!

My take:

That's about as good as we can play right now. I only listened to the game, once againt due to KCRG sucking, but I thought Taylor's shot selection was poor. He killed us right before half with missed shots. Some days he's going to be off and keep shooting and it'll bury us.

But that being said, I love it when I guys on and just keeps shooting. When you are hot, you're hot, and it's better to just ride it. I also wish he'd turn the ball over less and board a little better, but he can't be everything.

I think that was the perfect game from Clark. He's never going to be a 25-30 point guy, but 12 pts, 11 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 monster dunk and ZERO turnovers is a near perfect game. I think that's exactly what he need to do, he's kind of a super althetic "glue guy" (btw, Cory Johnson is going to be a tremendous "glue guy" before he's done).

I love the fact that this team is tough, never gives up and can play at the end of a game. It's so refreshing after the crap at the end of games last year. I think that'll be a staple of McDermott's tenure, we may not win them all, but we'll win the ones that are close at the end.

You beat me to it. Plus, I think he was the only one playing all 40. Fantastic effort!
