ISU To Announce New Football Coach

Iowa State has scheduled a press conference for Monday @ 6 PM.

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State University Athletics Department has called a 6 p.m. news conference for Monday (Nov. 27) at Hilton Coliseum to introduce its new football coach. Iowa State President Dr. Gregory Geoffroy, Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard and the new coach will speak. Additionally, the ISU Marching Band will perform.

Pollard says in a letter to his fans that a contract was signed with the "#1 choice from the start."

Dear Cyclone fans,

We hope you’ve had a great Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. It is truly a great time to be a Cyclone!

During the past several weeks Dr. Geoffroy, David Harris and I have spent considerable time speaking with and interviewing multiple candidates for our head football coaching position. Our goal was to recruit a coach to Iowa State University with great character and values, who also had a proven track record of competitive success that could add to the excellent foundation Coach McCarney built the past 12 years.

I am absolutely thrilled to share with you that we came to an agreement Sunday with our No. 1 choice from the first day of the search.

The purpose of this email is to personally invite each and every one of you to Hilton Coliseum on Monday evening to usher in the future of ISU football and also welcome the new coach, his wife and their children into our Cyclone family. This is a great opportunity for the Cyclone Nation to show the local, regional and national media that Iowa State University is engaged to take the “Next Big Step” with our football program.

The doors to Hilton Coliseum will open at 5:15 p.m. and the press conference will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Iowa State University marching band will perform before the news conference.

I see Pollard is STILL keeping it close to the vest - he didn't say who it was, just that it was the #1 choice from day one (which he would say regardless of if it actually was or not).

I have a notion it might be Pelini, as LSU could be without him for a bowl game, but you think CMU would want him around for the MAC Championship.

He doesn't want to look like BVDV who hired his 4th or 5th choice for the Basketball job, and EVERYONE KNEW IT.
