Quick Update On Coaching Search

Since we all know the announcement is tomorrow night, how long till news breaks of who the new guy is?

Right now it looks like it won't be an easy task finding out before tomorrow. I would very much like to think the news will finally come out this afternoon or evening but so far all reporters seem to be drawing blanks.

I've been in contact with the normal sources and they don't have any concrete information to share as of yet. The rumors have pointed to Pelini and Kelly as being the final two candidates. The majority of contacts are pointing towards Kelly since more evidence shows that he has been in contact with ISU officials the most over the past 48 hours. There are no clear indications pointing towards Pelini having met with Geoffrey but there are plenty for Kelly.

I'll keep you guys posted.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

The question I have with Kelly is he has a MAC championship on Thursday. Can't beleive we would ask or he would leave his team until Friday.

Better to be hated for who you are, than beloved for who you're not.

I always wondered why a coach in the running didn't just flat out lie to the media. Could Pelini just say "nope don't know anything" to the media and then show up in Ames tomorrow.

My Falcon senses says Kelly.
I don't know why he would announce this on Monday though. Seems pretty harsh considering they have a championship in 4 days.

I just can't see a coach taking a job a week before the Championship game in his conference, that he is in. Then they have a bowl game too... I just can't see Kelly being the coach!

Same here. If it's not Pelini, I definitely can't see Price or Kelly being a "first choice" candidate. My guess is that it's going to be Gary Patterson. He's got a wife and three kids.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

i will go out on a limb and make my official guess as Gary Patterson even though he seems very attached to TCU, he even started some kind of charitable foundation there

ISU ROCKS!!!!

Re: Quick Update On Coaching Search

I think it is Patterson, as mentioned above he would be a logical first choice and more importantly, I heard his wife is from Ames.

I think it would take the full $1.75MM someone mentioned earlier to get him, but it would be a good investment.

He is a winner with a proven ability to recruit in Big 12 territory and maybe after 6+ years at TCU he would enjoy the challenge of coaching in the Big 12.

This is as good a guess as anyone, I think Jamie has done a great job of keeping our interest in this process!

Re: Quick Update On Coaching Search

Just out of pure curiosity or maybe i missed something earlier but what does being married and having 3 kids have to do with anything? Is there a new club starting up that you have to be married and have 3 kids to join or something?
