This is a fantastic hire if this is true. I didn't think that JP could hire someone that the entire cyclone fanbase would get behind. I thought for sure there would be division amongst fans. And maybe there still will be, but it's hard not to like this hire.

From New York Post
Texas defensive coordinator Gene Chizik again showed why he's one of the best assistants in college football. The Longhorns were blitzed at Texas Tech and trailed 21-0 after the first quarter Saturday. Chizik made some halftime adjustments (a little less blitzing), but most of all, he had the confidence of his players.
"We'd come back against USC in the Rose Bowl, against Oklahoma State last year and Nebraska last week," he said. "The players believe in us. When I looked in their eyes, no one believed we were finished." Texas rallied to win, 35-31.

Jamie Pollard just renewed my season tickets for me. Avatar to change soon. This Kragthorpe fan is a very happy Cyclone.

Nothing against Kelly, but I think this is about a million times better. I don't know how Pollard does it! Three great coaching hires in under a year, even if one was a given. The Big 12 better get ready for ISU in just about every sport imaginable.

I think this is the first time that I have read everyone liking a coach... with nobody not wanting this guy.

What a great choice! His reputed knowledge and skill with the defensive side of the ball should help a young team that seemed kinda lost at times. Add to that his down south past for some recruiting inroads and things look quite bright for the future.

Sounds like a connection also with Monte Kiffin who used to head up defense at nebraska in the nineties. Looks like Alvin Bowen and Tyrone will make out like bandits in this defensive attitude.
