JEREMY THIS IS NOT EVEN POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - We don't have "cardinal and gold" uniforms - they're "red and yellow", get it right!

Also, there is a lot of talk about possibly loosing up to 2 scholarships for next season. That could mean we have 1 to work with after Brackins.
The APR rule is new so there are a lot of questions regarding it. However, from what I've heard I think ISU can take those penalties immediately or delay them for 1 year. If we do lose 2 scholarships because Stinson & Blalock end up being 0-2 guys (didn't return & wouldn't have been eligible to return), then it seems to me that ISU should split those losses between this fall and next fall. That way we'd have 3 scholarships available for this fall and 4 scholarships available for the 2008 class.

I think one thing we'll have to see is what G-Mac wants in his PG. Under Floyd, Eustacey & Morgan we targeted speedy PG that could break down defenses off the dribble. McIntosh would seem like a similar kid, but at UNI he had Brooks McKowen(sp?). Teams that rely on motion offense and a lot of half court sets tend to rely on screens and passing to break down defenses and get penetration. So G-Mac's priority might be PG's who can shoot jumpers and guys like Dunson or Stinnett could be solid PG's in G-Mac's system.

Conversely, guys that G-Mac has signed this spring keep bringing up his "style-of-play" as a reason for selecting ISU. That makes me wonder if G-Mac might depart from his UNI type offense and play more uptempo using a tough man-to-man defense to create offense. Similar to what LE did at ISU when he had Tinsley, Fizer, Nurse & Horton.

The schollies are from the APR impact of the poor previous GPA scores and the impact of the transfers. Because of this, ISU may not take a committment from Stinnett, even if he would like to give it this weekend. There is only 1 sure scholarship to recruit with at this point after the Brackins' commit until the NCAA says differently.

I think GMac likes to run whatever system is effective at the given time. With that I mean that we won't necessarily have a set style of play that never chagnes or evolves.

I also don't know that he will be set on just speedy guards or pure shooters. I think in the past he has prefered better shooters rather than pure speedy players. I think that is why our current roster can be effective, we now have speed and shooting ability.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I think lack of pure shooting is what has hurt ISU in the recent years. Ever since Sullivan left, we have had no one to rely on when it comes to shooting the trey. G-Mac has a lot of solutions to this problem. Getting Stinnett would be a significant boost to outside scoring. Along with that, G-Mac said in his Mediacom Interview that Jacobson has impressed him when it comes to shooting the 3. I can definately vouch for this, playing in the same conference as he did. The kid can flat out shoot the rock.

It may be inaccurate to say low GPA's have resulted in ISU's poor APR score. I'm no expert on this new APR, but each athlete is able to earn 2 points each semester.
 • 1 Point if they Return. Stinson, Blalock, Degand, Taggart, Carr & Evanovich will lose a point here.
 • 1 Point if they are Eligible to Return. GPA could come into play there, but it could also be an athlete didn't earn enough credits for the semester or year to be eligible the next academic year.
Schools only lose scholarships if their cumulative APR(03/04, 04/05, 05/06) is below 925 and they have athletes who earn 0 points. That could be the case with any of the transfers, but it may be most likely with Stinson & Blalock since they dedicated a lot of time to enhancing their draft status.

GMac has said the number one factor in choosing a point guard is being a winner. That is why Corey McIntosh was pursued. GMac wants a floor general and game manager over anything else.
