P'Allen Stinnett to wear cardinal and gold?
Jeremy - 6/8/06
CycloneFanatic.com
While I have tried to stay away from covering recruiting speculation due to the legalities, competitiveness, and time requirements, I wanted to pass along what I feel to be very credible information from multiple sources. Please take the following as being rumors and speculation.
SPECULATION:
I have heard from more than one source that P'Allen Stinnett will be making the most of his time on campus for the AAU Tournament this weekend. P'Allen will likely meet unofficially and socially with several Men's Basketball players and talk with the coaching staff while also taking a tour. All of this is unofficial and it's not to be called an official visit to Iowa State. With that said, I have heard that a commitment from P'Allen would not come as a surprise to the coaching staff. There have been some strong signs pointing to an eventual cardinal and gold uniform being ordered with P'Allen's name on it.

Well now, that would be fantastic news. Too bad he had to back out of the original commitment. It's understandable that he did, but unfortunate nonetheless. Things are looking up!

I hope you're right and that he actually makes it hear in '07. The AAU footage I saw of him looked pretty darn good.

I am almost certain he will be a Clone, it's just a matter of if it happens this weekend or not.

Im confused. It says on scout.com that P'Allen Stinnett has signed a LOI to ISU. Is this new news or does this just go with everyone talking about that he is a hopeful to come to ISU?

I'm nearly certain that the LOI on Scout is from last year. They aren't always the most up to date. Rivals seems to update more frequently with regard to recruits, although someone feel free to correct me if that's not true.

I think we have to find that killer post player now for 07 or 08. I am talking 7 ft 250lbs. That is what we really need to complete a nice class. Right now there is nobody that ISU has that scares anyone down low.
Stinnet would be awesome to get though. He is a stinson like player that can actually shoot.

I am extremely excited about Stinnett as he was probably the player I was most excited about for next year. I would imagine that McDermott is looking for a bruiser inside since we have some young players in Ross, Thompson, and Brackins that look to be more PF type players. If he can get Ross up to about 240 I think he could be a very quality center, but I just don't know if Ross has the frame to support that.
But you are right, I would love a big true center and another guard if Stinnett comes. If Stinnett does decide to honor his commitment from last year, that would be two top 75 players according to rivals in the same class, and two four star players as well. The future for ISU basketball is already looking up and I am extremely excited.

Two things to keep in mind:
1-Brackins will be a five-star player by the end of his summer playing time. That is almost certain. He will likely go from the upper 30's to upper 20's for ranking as well. This is what I've been told by multiple people that deal with the rankings.
2-Stinnett had decided on ISU because of Ames and it's people and Morgan was just filling. I would say about 75% of what made him committ was the campus and town rather than the coaching staff. I would be surprised if we didn't have a committment from P'Allen this weekend.
Also, there is a lot of talk about possibly loosing up to 2 scholarships for next season. That could mean we have 1 to work with after Brackins. Do we go with another gaurd, a big guy, or Stinnett? I would say Stinnett because Brackins can play inside or out, Marsden is putting on some major muscle, we'll have Thompson to throw in there for some touchness?, and we need quality shooters in the Big 12.
Stinnett is a proven player and would give us some major recruiting momentum for the 08 class. We don't need a PG for the 07 class as bad as people think. We have some quality players in Dunson, McIntosh, etc.
Finally, our school is well known for being a great place for guards to grow, I think we will have a very easy time finding a PG in the top 100 for the 07 or 08 class if there is a scholarship to give. If we loose 2 ships for 07, we can wait on a true PG for 08 and get one of the best out there. A lot of the greatest 07 PG's are already being heavily recruited by the big majors and it's hard to convince a PG so late in the recruiting process. BUT, GMac has shown he can pull his weight in the recruiting battles so only time will tell.

I don't think he backed out due to the coaching change. I think P'Allen was going to have some grade issues regardless of who was coaching at ISU. Hopefully, he has gotten that all straightened out at Prep School and still wants to be a Cyclone. I know the fans certainly would love to have him.

What is this about losing 2 scholarships? Why would this happen and when will we know if it does?
