Bowen, Stephenson AT&T All-Big 12
Media Relations

AMES, Iowa -- Linebacker Alvin "Ace" Bowen, whose 12.92 tackles per game leads NCAA Division I-A and repeat all-Big 12 Conference center Scott Stephenson lead Iowa State on the AT&T All-Big 12 team for 2006. Bowen, who hails from East Orange, N.J., tallied 155 tackles this fall, ranking sixth on the all-time ISU single-season list. He made the second team. Stephenson, a first-team all-Big 12 choice by AP last season, joins Bowen on the second team. The St. Paul, Minn. native started all 24 Iowa State games in 2005 and 2006.

Punt returner Ryan Baum, wide receiver Todd Blythe, offensive tackle Aaron Brant, defensive lineman Brent Curvey and defensive end Shawn Moorehead all earned honorable mention recognition.

Selections are made by the league's 12 head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Stephenson has at least a dozen big time agents after him...possible high middle round in the draft.

Honest question: What makes Stephenson so highly rates. Our line stunk it up all year. So what makes the center immune to what happened to the rest of the line?

I've never seen the great talent of Stephenson either, but he's getting the respect for a reason. I'm happy for him, hope he makes a lot of dough.

No kidding. McKenzie should AT LEAST be honorable mention if Bowen is 2nd team. Those 2 guys were the WHOLE DEFENSE!
