ISU in Hilton Coliseum was on Dec. 4, 1978 (86-77)...the game had a crazy finish...
ISU was down by 16 points with 11:37 remaining in the game, but the Cyclones mounted a furious comeback, tying the game at 78-78 on a Dodie Dunson layup with :16 left in the game...Drake’s Al Stewart answered with a lay-up on its next possession to give the Bulldogs an 80-78 lead with :04 left...
ISU had one last chance, as Mike Taylor drove the court and passed to Dunson, who pumped faked and then drilled a trey, but it was a fraction of a second too late...Dunson, who was one of five Cyclones in double figures in scoring, had a phenomenal game for the Cyclones, scoring a career-high 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and a 4-of-5 effort from 3-point range...he scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half...Dunson’s four treys helped

Iowa is 4-5 after a 57-55 loss at home to Northern Iowa on Tuesday...senior Adam Haluska, who played his freshman season at Iowa State, is the team leader, averaging 17.4 points and 4.4 rebounds...Haluska, a native of Carroll, Iowa, poured in a career-high 31 points against Coppin State last Saturday to help him earn MVP honors at the Hawkeye Challenge...Haluska, who drilled six treys against Coppin State, leads the team with 25 3-pointers...he is shooting 94.4 percent from the free-throw line, which ranks in the top-20 nationally...freshman Tyler Smith has had a good start to his career...the Pulaski, Tenn., native is averaging 14.2 points and 4.9 rebounds...he registered a career-high 28 points in the win vs. Toledo and led Iowa against UNI with 20 points...junior college transfer Justin Johnson has taken over some point guard duties with the injury to Mike Henderson...Johnson is averaging 6.9 points and is shooting 47.4 percent (18-38 3FG) from 3-point range...the Hawks are shooting 75.4 percent from the free-throw line this season, which ranks in the top-50 nationally.
