Looking For The 10,000th

AMES, Iowa – The excitement surrounding Coach Greg McDermott’s first Cyclone men’s basketball team can be easily measured by the spinning turnstiles at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State officials announced Tuesday that 9,947 season tickets have been sold for the 2006-07 season. That is an increase of more than 1,000 season tickets over last year. In addition, Iowa State’s records indicate that the University has never sold more than 10,000 men’s basketball season tickets.
“We’ve decided to create a little buzz for the stretch run of season ticket purchasing with a promotion to identify the individual who puts us over the 10,000-season ticket sales figure,” Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “The response of the Cyclone fans to Coach McDermott’s first year has been sensational. It certainly mirrors the record-breaking sales figures – 30,000 season tickets along with the two largest crowds in Jack Trice Stadium history – from this fall’s football season.”
The person, who purchases the 10,000th season ticket, will get the chance to sit in the new courtside seats (the Court Cy’d Club) for one men’s basketball game and receive a Cyclone gift packet. Additionally, the fan will be recognized on the video board and introduced to the Hilton crowd at the Big 12 home opener vs. Nebraska on Jan. 10.
A number of $99 season tickets located in the corners of the upper level are still on sale at the Athletics Ticket Office or on-line at
www.cyclones.com. With 11 home games remaining on the schedule, those seats are still a terrific value for
ISU fans looking to catch some exciting Big 12 men’s basketball or provide a great holiday gift to a friend or family member.
