Recruit

Here is a good link on the KUSports site about Leuer.

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2006/may/17/...mens_basketball

Seems like he's real quick and more of an outside guy than an inside banger.

And as for having 2 four star recruits...I believe WM has signed both Taggert and Kellen Lee who was also a 4 star at the time.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Cydkar @ Jun 12 2006, 10:38 AM) Quoted post</div><div class='quotemain'> I'm not arguing at all that he's worthy of 4 stars. But, if fans were able to apply stars to their recruits there would be many more 4 star players than there are. You can't say we have 'x' number of 4 and 5 star players and insert your own number as 'x'.

[/b][/quote]

I saw Corey play multiple times this year in high school. I agree, he's not a four star player. He's good, he's solid, and has a sweet perimeter rainbow shot, but he's got a lot of work to do to play at the Big 12 level. His defense, esp. in man-to-man on the perimeter, is lacking. And he needs to put on 20-25 lbs. to play in the front court in the Big 12.

To me, the difference between a three star and four star is someone who is ready to step in and play in the Big 12. He'll be solid by his junior year, but he's not ready yet.

All I'm saying is that he wasn't rated a 4 star. That's all I know. I'm glad he's a Clone but he's not a 4 start...he's just not. He may be better than some 4 stars though.

The rivals database has this guy entered twice. Once as you spell it above and once as Dwight Buiacks. No info about the guy on either entry and no rankings as of yet.

Depending on where you look, he is currently either a two or three star. He has gone very much under the radar so far but had one of the best showings over the weekend. I would not be surprised to see an offer extended to him.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I haven't seen him play personally but I have talked to a few people that saw him over the weekend and they couldn't believe how good he was playing already. I think he is a player that could thrive in Ames with our current and future roster.

Here's a very small bit of information that I found on Google. Looks like he is 6'2" and 175 pounds from Bay View HS in Wisconsin:

Jon Leuer: If KU is after him, he must be good (4 or 5 star potential). Hope he likes the I-35 connection to Minnesota for his parents to watch him play. Surprised EIU was not listed/mentioned in the 40 schools calling him.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

CN is reporting that three offers were extended this weekend: Leuer, Buyck, and Pullen I assume? Jeremy?

I do know who the offers were to but I am waiting for one more confirmation before I print it. I have been working on a quick story regarding the potential recruits since last night but I want to make sure I have several sources on this.

Thanks!

I saw Cory Johnson play a couple games during their state tournament run this past season. That might not be representative of his abilities, but I'm not sure he can play SF at the college level. He has a nice outside shot, is a good passer and can get out on the break. However, I don't think he has the foot speed to match up defensively against teams that run 3 guard offenses.

One thing to remember is maybe only 75% of recruits pan out. So if ISU is going to find 4 quality post players, we probably need to have 6 post players on our roster. So bringing Leuer and Brackins makes a lot of sense.

Bay View High School is in Milwaukee. They play in the City Conference with perennial state powerhouses Rufus King and Vincent. He is a very good player from the best conference in Wisconsin. He will probably only be offered if Stinnett doesn't sign. I think Stinnett will ultimately commit to ISU along with McFarland. I'd lay odds on it.
