I think you will end up seeing the classes broken up a little more instead of one monstor class for 08. I really think the staff picked up a lot more interesting talent than original believed possible so quickly. With TJ's awesome work so far, I am looking at 07 being a bigger class now.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Why did Stinnet decommit in the first place? Was it a grade issue or fall out from the Morgan ouster? I'm a little surprised we are not going for a true center, but maybe there are just not that many out there available.

You said that there will prbly be a spread out class between 07 and 08. I know a lot has been made of finding a true PG. Is Jeremiah Kelly a lock to come to ISU. I see that he is a 4 star and that we made an offer to him. It also shows on Scout.com that we are the only school he is interested in. Does that need to be updated or is that recent?

Prospect

Regarding all the offers to the Las Vegas Prospects players.. why isn't ISU pursuing Billy White? Last year he sounded like the best player of the group (Stinnett and Mcfarland) of Las Vegas players.

I'm not trying to be silly, but I'm not sure what's a "true center". It seems to me the vast majority of college teams have 2 power forwards. Guys like Homan, Simeon & Bookout are considered centers in todays college game, but IMO they would have probably been considered PF's 8-10 years ago.

Has the rise in 3 guard lineups made "true centers" a thing of the past? Making quickness more important than height in the post. Most big guys are more comfortable shooting from 15 feet than shooting hook shots. Again has that placed a premium on post quickness, so a guy can guard in space.

I think centers are a very rare and premium type of player nowadays. You could argue about who was ISU's last true center but I think you will see more potential true centers in the coming years at ISU than you have seen in the past 10+ years.

I look at somebody like Cato as a true center and oh how I wish we could have him for the coming season:)

I think centers aren't developed like they used to be because everything either revolves around speed or agility, i.e. lack of weight. You really benefit if you have somebody that can get up and down the floor but also throw their weight around when needed. We really missed that this past season and I don't know that we'll ever have somebody as true to the center position as Cato was.

You have to look at the type of offenses when deciding if a team could even benefit from a center. Morgan's offenses were way too speed oriented to benefit enough from a true monstor on the floor while GMac's typical offense is a lot more organized and structured around the team as a whole and therefore could use a beast on the inside. The trick is finding a quick monstor.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Imagine what GMac could have done at UNI with a true center. A 6-10 beast.....they would have steamrolled the MVC.
