Iowa State MBB extends several offers
Jeremy

Iowa State has officially extended three offers to possible recruits after watching them play over the weekend at the All-Elite Basketball camp in Ames. After confirming the below information with three separate sources, I'm ready to let loose on what could very well be the future of the Iowa State Men's Basketball program.

As reported earlier, Iowa State extended an offer to Minnesota native, John Leuer. Along With Leuer, ISU re-offered a scholarship to P'Allen Stinnett and has offered to his teammate, 6-6 210 lbs Forward, Andre McFarland.

Both Stinnett and McFarland are teammates of recent five-star-to-be ISU commit Craig Brackins on the Las Vegas Prospects team. There are some obvious advantages to landing three players that are used to each other and have had plenty of time to gel as teammates. The ISU coaching staff has carefully analyzed the potential recruits and decided to pull the trigger before it gets any later in the summer.

All three of the above mentioned potential recruits are considered rising prospects with increased attention being paid to them by high-major programs. All three have had increased contact with several major programs and are likely to see even more after their recent play in camp(s). Stinnett was the star over the weekend and is considered a virtual lock to recommit to ISU. The other two are somewhat undecided at this time but have shown a lot of interest in the program and the coaching staff.

John Leuer is currently being pursued by Kansas, Rice, Minnesota, UNC, and several others. Stinnett has not opened his recruiting up much since withdrawing from ISU this past spring in the hopes of recommitting for the 07-08 season. McFarland is currently being pursued heavily by USC, Cal, Arizona State, UNLV, Baylor, Georgia Tech, and Texas Tech.

Along with the above mentioned players, ISU is also hot on the trails of three to five other players that should remain unnamed at this time per the request of my sources.

Look for more exciting Men's Basketball news throughout the week.

UPDATE: There is a possibility that the coaching staff will extend one or two additional offers by the end of the week. One of the two could possibly be for the 08-09 class.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Coincidentally, McFarland will be rooming with Stinnett and Brackins at Brewster Academy. I predict that all three of these guys will be here in another year.

They're all for 07. Leuer will be a senior this year and McFarland and Stinnett will play with Brackins at Brewster this year.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Actually, as far as I know, they are all for 07.

I am surprised that none of the offers went to any of the PG's on campus. I thought that was a priority for the staff. I also still kind of doubt Leuer will come to ISU (just a feeling) so that would leave one of the four open for 2007, assuming all of these guys commit.

I haven't heard a ton of possitive things about Leuer coming, I think he is truley up in the air right now but he seemed genuinely interested in the offer. I think both Stinnett and McFarland will be Clones based on what I've heard.

If you put Stinnett and McFarland as keepers, leave out Leuer since we're unsure, and add a quality PG to the Brackins commit; you have an amazing team that could take anybody in the country to the wire.

Rivals now has leuer listing ISU #1 on his list. he has isu at high, and a bunch of others at medium.

BTW, is there a good chance that mcfarland will commit to isu?

Any idea on how long before these 3 make their decisions?

Guess we better find a website link to the las vegas Prospects AAU team....

At the rate recruiting is going the past two months, we might start talking about 2010 in a month.

So with all of these offers does the staff believe that they won't get dinged on scholarships? Last I heard they had 4 available, but might lose two of those.

They are still uncertain but they are able to take the hits in either 07 or 08 so it's not as big of deal as a lot of people make it to be. If we can get solid players with the schollies, we can accept having two fewer players in the end. Time will tell though.

Jeremy, Do you still think that the 08 class will be ranked very highly even if the scholarship deal happens... i remember a long time ago you had sources that said it would be the best class in isu history, if we lose scholarships im doubting that but do you still think it will rank up there?
