Some raw intel regarding
ISU MBB
Since today has seen a lot of
MBB news, I wanted to add to it just a bit to help clarify some common questions people are asking.
I have spoken to a very high-level source to get the best answers at this time.
- ISU is unsure if there will be scholarships taken away because of the APR situation. Nothing will be known for a while but it is not seen as a huge problem since the two possible scholarship losses can be deferred until 08.
- Iowa State is close to finishing up the last few details of the schedule and hopes to release it sometime soon.
- There have been a lot of questions regarding the need for a PG in the 2007 class. From what I've been told, the coaching staff is not completely decided on what they want to do for recruiting a true PG. At this time they are evaluating the 07 and 08 prospects and are looking at recruiting a pure PG in the 08 class rather than the 07 class. There is a lot of expectation that Stinnett and Dunson can play a few quality minutes at Point if need be and obviously McIntosh will be the primary PG for the foreseeable future. There is a chance that a good shooter or combo guard would be of interest for next year but it is not a high priority as of yet.
- There are possibly some additional offers to be handed out once everything is evaluated and the staff has a chance to get together some more.
It looks like this will be a very busy and exciting week for Men's Basketball!
