AMES, Iowa - Josh Snyder, a member of the Iowa State University Athletics Department since 2003, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. The announcement was made Wednesday by Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard.
This is Snyder's second
ISU promotion after being hired as Director of Compliance in 2003. Snyder remains responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating all facets of Iowa State's athletics compliance program, including the education, monitoring and investigation components. His office is responsible for ensuring rules compliance with all NCAA, Big 12 Conference and Iowa State University rules and regulations.
"Josh has done excellent work for Iowa State University on a number of fronts and it's certainly appropriate to recognize and reward good performance," Pollard said. "His knowledge of compliance and professional relationships with staff at both the Big 12 and NCAA is important to our everyday operations. Josh is an Iowa State alum, and we believe this promotion underlines our desire to keep him in the Cyclone family."
Snyder graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences in 1995. While at
ISU, Snyder was a student ambassador for the Alumni Association, served as Vice-President of the Pep Council and worked three seasons (1991-94) as a football equipment manager.
He continued his education at Creighton and earned his Juris Doctorate in 2001. Snyder has been admitted to practice before all Nebraska State and Federal Courts. He earned "First in Class" designations for both Legal Interviewing and Contracts and was President of the school's Sports and Entertainment Law Society.
Snyder worked previously at the University of South Dakota, serving as an Assistant and Associate Athletics Director (2001-03) with supervisory responsibilities in the areas of compliance and student services. He also worked one year (2000-01) as a compliance assistant at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Prior to moving into the compliance arena, Snyder gained experience in sales and operations for several professional sports teams, including the Omaha Flames (1997-98), Omaha Racers (1996-97) and Sioux City Explorers (1995-96).
