Prospect

I got there late, but saw most of the 2nd game and the 1st half of the last game.

Here are my thoughts:
C-mac had very good point guard skills and a nice shot. He had a pass between a defender's legs to CJ that totally caught him off guard on a break. He is small, but as stated, very quick. I did see him talking some, but I didn't catch anything that was all that bad. Most of the time it seemed like he was trying to pump up his team and offer encouragement. I only saw a little over the first half of that game, so maybe I missed something.

Dodie Dunson impressed me quite a bit. He was a vocal leader for his team and did so in a good way. He took it to the hoop very hard and had a few and 1's. I think he has some potential. Had a good shot the times I saw him shoot it as well. Looking forward to him playing on this team.

CJ started off shooting the 3 very rough. On two occasions he bricked and didn't even hit the rim. The thing I liked about him was that he didn't seem to let it bother him. He started to get inside and hit the glass harder. He seemed nifty around the hoop and had a few pretty nice dunks also. As stated before, he can definitely use some muscle, but was a heady player. He should be a good one down the road.

Jessan Gray seemed to struggle big time with his outside shot when I saw him. I think he shot outside more that he did inside, which for a big guy like that is kind of odd. I think he had an off night, but it does remind me of times last year when he was putting up threes and not hitting them. I think the wrong people shot too many threes last year, but that is a different story anyway.

Ross Marsden still seem to not like getting physical. He seemed like he did get somewhat bigger though and I still think he has potential to be pretty good. He has a pretty soft touch and hit some big shots last year. That experience should benefit him down the road.

Rahson Clark did pretty well when I saw him. He had a couple of thundering dunks right when I got there and hit a couple of threes as well. He can shoot when he gets on a role. It is worth going to these games just to see him soar.

Brock Jacobsen didn't play a ton when I was there, but that guy can shoot the 3. He is perfect for bringing in and cutting off screens to hit the 3. I saw him last year also and I would say he has improved with his ball handling. He reminds me of the Jacobsen kid at UNI the last few years, but I doubt he will play the same role that that Ben did.

It was fun to see some of the past Iowa State guys like Dave Braet shoot the 3. It was also fun to see some of the high school kids get a chance to play with the big boys. What an advantage they get by playing on these teams. Looking forward to Wednesday night.

I agree with everything you stated. In particular, I don't think McIntosh is a lippy player. He talks a lot, but like you said, it's mostly encouraging his teammates. Sometimes he ribs guys on the other team, but I think it's just in good fun. I see a lot of these guys joking with each other.

I was also impressed with Dunson. I'd say he was a lot more effective than the two Drake guards, Grant and Houston, who never saw a shot they didn't like.

GO CYCLONES!
