Quoted post</div><div class='quotemain'> One thing that is being overlooked is the fact that Iowa City is better than Ames. I went to Iowa State and now I live in Iowa City, the bars are better here, there are more better looking women than in Ames, I do think that tail-gating is better at
ISU but if you go down to the ped mall during a home game every bar is packed.... The only thing that sucks is that they are full of Iowa fans

I've lived in Iowa City on a couple occasions in my life. Iowa has more bars because you only have to be 16 to get in. If there's a bigger market, there will be more bars, thus "more better" bars to choose from. In terms of women, same thing. There aren't "more better" looking women in IC than Ames, but there are a lot more younger women out drinking and partying in Iowa City.
The fact is, IC/Coralville has a population of over 100,000. Cedar Rapids is 20 minutes away, with a population of around 200,000. Quad Cities are an hour away, population over 150,000. Sure, Des Moines is closer to Ames and is bigger than all those areas combined, but not everyone in DSM is a Cyclone fan, or a sports fan for that matter. Ames has a population around 50,000. There are a lot less casual fans that live nearby and are willing to go to a few games here in Ames than in the IC area. They are hyped every year to do big things and the fans respond. If/when KF leaves, and they fall off, plenty of fans will jump off the bandwagon. The only thing that really matters if for us to keep winning. The more wins, the more fans will become interested. That's just how it is.
