The Iowa State Cyclones are on the ice warming up for this outstanding match up of two national powers. The stage is set and the Cyclones have never looked more motivated.
I talked to Sophomore Mike Murtaugh and Junior Jayson Peterson. Both told me that the team is ready and will accept nothing less than a big win here at Bird Arena, widely known as one of the toughest rinks to play in.
You can expect the Cyclones to come out hitting and skating. It's going to be a great one! We'll be back from Bird Arena between the first and second periods. Thanks!

While I applaud your enthusiasm and your willingness to provide CF with Cyclone hockey information, let's not lose sight of reality though. This is a club hockey team and labeling a 'national power' for any club hockey team might just be a little overboard.
Keep the info coming though CycloneHockey. Thanks.

It looks like we're up 2-1 in the first period with goals from Naert and Majkozak; ACHAhockey.org is providing real time stats.
I'm looking forward to the update from the game, let us know how we're looking!

Well, when you consider ISU is #6 ranked among 51 teams in ACHA Division 1, I think national power is pretty acurate. They are an ACHA National Power.
End of Period 1. The Cyclones are up 2-1 on goals from Freshmen Pete Majkozak and Roch Naert. The Clones have out shot the Bobcats 18-7 so far and the defense has been dominant.
The one goal came off of a rebound, but since then the defense has been cleaning up the garbage. Looks like we are ready to go for period 2. We'll be back after that!
Thanks for checkin back!

The Wartburg Rugby team used to be really good too.

Thanks for the updates Cyclone Hockey. Period 2 has got to be done by now. I hope the lead has been extended. It's sounds like they came to play, especially on defense with shots on goal stats 18-7 through period 1.
Go Cyclones!!!

The Cyclones lost their lead and one of their defensemen in period 2. Two power play goals scored by OHIO. 3-2 Bobcats right now.
Matt Verdoni was DQ'd for spearing early in the second on a very marginal. He was also given a 5 minute major. Verdoni is the smallest, but speediest defenseman, he will be missed.
That said, the Clones have not lost their spirits. They are poised to regain their momentum as we head into the third. Remember, earlier this year we had to come beat this same Ohio team while dow 2-1. The Clones went on to win that game 3-2. Anything can happen here. We'll see how things go and I'll be back at the end of the game to recap it for you. Thanks!

This game has been everything we thought it would be and more. At the end of 3 periods....WE ARE TIED! The Cyclones got a goal from Adam Mueller early in the period on a beauty of a wrister from the top of the point.
I am told we are playing a FULL 20 Minutes. No sudden death this year. This will be the second straight OT semi-final the Clones have played in the CSCHL Tourney. They took a loss to eventual champion Illinois. But...the Cyclones have played a better game today and have been able to put the puck in the net.
Total shots on goal for the game so far is 36-22. So...we're gettin ready for OVERTIME. Lookin forward to it...GO CYCLONES!

Hardly. You could say a football team is a national power in division III, or a fencing team is a national power in division II. Its all relative my friend.

The ACHA website says that Krueger had the third Iowa State goal with an assist from Majkozak. Was it Krueger or Mueller who scored that one?
Here's hoping the overtime is going our way!

The CSCHL website has the final up as a 4-3 victory for ISU!!!
I'm looking forward to your recap and analysis, CycloneHockey!
GREAT win for the guys for knocking off the top-seeded team in their own arena. Taking out the #2 team in the country in their own building should show some doubters around the nation that this team is for real!
