Post MBB: ISU Men's Hoops Announces Camp Schedule

ISU Men's Hoops Announces Camp Schedule
Media Relations

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State men's basketball program announced its 2007 summer camp schedule. A total of 10 different camps will be offered beginning on June 11.

"Our camps at Iowa State will continue to provide young players an opportunity to experience outstanding teaching from our Cyclone basketball staff," ISU head coach Greg McDermott said. "Every camper will have the chance to get to know our great staff and interact with ISU players as they serve as counselors."

For complete camp details, visit www.cyclonebasketball.com.

2007 Iowa State Cyclone Basketball Camp Schedule
June 11-14, Boys and Girls Day Camp
June 15, Individual Offensive Improvement Camp
June 16-17, Elite Camp
June 17-19, Big Man-Guard Camp
June 22-23, Father-Son Camp
June 25-27, Point Guard Academy
June 25-27, Guard-Forward Academy
June 25-27, Post Player Academy
June 20-July 1, Team Camp I
July 28-29, Team Camp II

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Do you know who is coming to the elite camp this year Jeremy? If I recall this was a place where the staff put a lot of scholarship offers out to potential recruits. Do you anticipate any commits at the time?

Oh and yes, I am demanding.

I love the looks of their camp schedule! I worked some of LE's camps and attended Johnny Orr camp as a kid, and while they were a blast for the kids it didn't seem like there were many fundamentals taught and coaches weren't present for much of it. I think LE and JO each showed up for one morning of camp (maybe 2 for Johnny) to make an appearance, but didn't have much to do with the camp beyond that. At least from the sounds of the camps it looks like the kids will be taught and worked with more. Maybe that's the coaching side of me, but I know if I'm shelling out $300 for my kid to go to a week of bball I want him to at least learn a few things beyond a secret handshake with Omar Bynum (not that this doesn't help in picking up the ladies for a youngster ). I'm excited to see how these camps shake down.

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”
