Media Relations AMES, Iowa – Iowa State quarterbacks coach Todd Fitch, who new Cyclone head coach Gene Chizik retained from the previous ISU football coaching staff, was named offensive coordinator at East Carolina Monday. Fitch, who has coached Iowa State quarterback Bret Meyer for three seasons, originally joined the Cyclone coaching staff in January 2004. He was also the ISU passing game coordinator under former head coach Dan McCarney. "I want to express my gratitude to Gene Chizik for giving me the chance to stay at Iowa State," Fitch said. "(The East Carolina offensive coordinator position) was a career move that I couldn’t pass on. From the short time I have been on Gene’s staff, I can tell you the Cyclone football program has a bright future." Fitch will work under head coach Skip Holtz at East Carolina. "Todd has a chance to be a coordinator and that is an opportunity that you really can’t pass up," Chizik said. "We kept him here because I was really impressed with him. We wish him the very best." Chizik said a search for Fitch's replacement will begin immediately. |
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |
