When Iowa State hosts Iowa this fall, make sure to pack the Jack with 70's Iowa State grub.
It will soon be announced that Iowa State will be sporting jerseys and helmets from the 70's when they take the field. A tentative announcement is planned for the Spring Game in April.
Check back for graphics of the designs in the near future.
Note: I'm not sure if I posted this as a rumor last fall or not so I'm reposting anyways as everything has been ordered and approved.

This is so COOOOOL. I was hoping we would break out some throw-back uni's one of these days.
By the way, anyone remember those 16 oz Pepsi bottles that used to have the ISU/Iowa scores on em? I have like 4 or 5 of em from the 70s, gotta dig those up.

Will our jerseys say "Beat Iowa" on the front like in '77?? 
I have a helmet from 76 with the block I and ISU down the middle of the block I. My favorite ISU helmet design of all time. I hope we use that design.

I used to work with Tom Buck, and I think he still lives in the Ames area because I ran into him last summer...but anyway, he ran a punt back for what I think was the first points scored in the renewal of the series. Anyway, we had a terrific offense that year but didn't score an offensive touchdown that game. Iowa had a back gain over 200 yards and I think they won it 12-10. I guess maybe they didn't score a TD either.
I'll never forget how nervous I was that entire game.

Tom Buck helped coach my 8th grade football team....way back in 1980. He was the inventor of the famous BENO defense.
BENO Running, BENO passing, BENO Nothin' against our defense.
The throwback unis is a great idea. I would kinda like to see them for the entire year.
