Williams: ISU's Taylor in need of a running mate

Here is a link to my new column in today's Tribune. It's about Mike Taylor needing a buddy in the Cyclone backcourt and why Diante Garrett just might be that guy.

Enjoy!
Go Cyclones!

Let's hope he is as good as advertised. We really need some stability in the backcourt, especially tomorrow!

Go Cyclones!!

Frankly I'm not certain that adding position or player can add stability with Taylor on the court. I've resigned myself to the fact that with him you have to take the good and the bad and just deal with it.

The idea is that you pair Mike with a capable point guard, someone who can handle some pressure, thereby relieving Taylor of his ball handling responsibilities and let him run around some screens and catch and shoot. In theory it sounds like it could work, emphasize the good, Taylor shooting, eliminate the bad, him making decisions with the ball in his hands.

Only problem is that often times Taylor shooting is not a good decision either. Like the previous poster said, you just take the good with the bad regardless of how much talent is around him.

Re: Williams: ISU's Taylor in need of a running mate

My only concern is that he needs to add strength. Well, that is what McInstosh needs as well. McIntosh thrived in teh Colorado game because, frankly, they provided no pressure. Will Garrett be able to come in right away and be effective when teams get all over him? I hope so, but I think McIntosh will be more effective next year. He knows what he needs to be able to handle next year. Its going to be all new for Diante next season.

"That's a question that many Cyclone fans have been wondering while watching McIntosh get tossed around like loose change in a washing machine during the conference season."

That is hilariously true. Love it Chris!
