CycloneFanatic.com Relaunching - My Apologies
While it's obvious that there have been disagreements between the three Cyclone websites, I want to be the first to say that I am personally sorry for things that I have said publicly about these disagreements and I want to talk briefly about what I plan to do differently going forward.
To be honest, I'm a young die-hard fan like many of you that frequent this and other websites. Being young, I am very energetic towards things that I have a passion for (i.e. ISU Athletics) and don't always show the best restraint when people don't agree with me in my opinions towards the ISU programs or my website. I have not set a good example in how I have handled some of the opinions and criticisms shared by members of other websites. I apologize for that and plan on growing up in this aspect of how I handle things.
During the past 6 months that this site has been online, there have been numerous times where I felt proud of stories that were reported here first, and sometimes I have been overly vocal and defensive of the reporting of those stories. I realize when I look back that there have been times that I may have come across either egotistical or as a jerk in how I said I or me when discussing these events. For that I also apologize and hope people don't take those times as an indication of the person that I am. When I'm not online, I'm the quietest and least vocal person around. I work hard on this site and sometimes have not shown the best restraint when it comes to handling the stress of the situations at hand. Again, there are no excuses for my handling of these events.
Regarding CycloneReport and CycloneNation. I have been vocal the past week about situations that have taken place either behind the scenes in emails or on other websites. I should never have been as publicly vocal as I have been and I wish I could take back what has already been said but I realize that's not always possible. Since these events have already occurred, I want to reach out to the other two sites in asking not only the site administrators (Paul, Chris, Steve, and myself), but also the members of said sites to join together and be more understanding that fans will chose their favorite site and we need to respect that decision and opinion. I have been as bad, if not worse, than many others when it comes to being vocal about defending my site/work. I don't have an explanation or excuse for how defensive I have been so all I can offer is an apology and promise to do things differently going forward.
As you can tell, I feel very badly for either my actions or words when it comes to dealing with criticism of this website and what it does. I have no way of changing people's opinion of me or the site but I do want to reach out to those of you that are either tired of hearing about the feuds between the sites or are just tired of us admins talking about it. I hope that Chris and Paul will join with me in asking members not to talk about the other sites while on a site other than that being discussed. If you have a problem with CF or myself, talk about it on my board, or better yet, email me. If you have a problem with Paul or Chris, email them or take it to their boards. I am as guilty as anybody with not doing this and I apologize again for that.
I have sent an apology to Paul for my words regarding him and his site and hope to get a response back. I have talked to Chris and think that we are on perfectly level ground on what we expect from each other and the members of said sites. We are all in this for the same cause and I think it's time we start acting like it. I have grown up a lot in the past week and I am sorry for those of you that have had to put up with the growing pains that have been evident. It's been a hectic time in my life the past six months, more offline than on here, and I apologize for not always standing up to the standards I have set for others. Thank you for sticking with me and CycloneFanatic.com through these times. I look forward to many great seasons ahead and hope that you're all as excited about the future as I am. Go Cyclones!!
Sincerely,
Jeremy - Site Admin

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

I don't look at any of the other cyclone sites and needless to say am in the dark as to what has been going on. Perhaps it is better left as water under the bridge, but I am curious if anyone would care to fill me in.

Jeremy, nicely put. I haven't commented about any of the arguements that have taken place. And I still won't. Every site has it's benefits and fans can choose. Thats what makes this great is the choices we get as fans. Good to see some closure on this so everyone can return to discussions about the team we love.

Forget apologizing, you are the only site administrator that understands not everyone is going to agree with your opinion. I am tired of reading on CR all the people that worship the ground their "leader" walks on as well as the personal attacks on individuals who disagree.
This is the only site that hasn't began personally attacking each other after every post....let's hope it stays that way. People here actually understand that everyone is entitled to an opinion and if someone's opinion is different then yours it doesn't make them any less of a cyclone fan then the next person.
That's just my opinion, but then again my opinion is MONEY!

Jeremy,
I applaud your post.
I understand your feelings and the challenges you face.
I do feel your post is an excellent example of maturity and reason and sets the tone to end this, to move froward..
As you know, I hve communucated my thoughts directly and for the most part will keep it in that format.
As you know, I support and feel CR does an excellent job as well.
What I support is the best and growth of ISU, both athletics and the entire university. I appreciate your committment to that, and being able to say where you may need to make changes to improve.
Thank you.

I think you have your answer right there about the lack of maturity and professionalism of Clark. You were right about him earlier this week. No need to apologize for pursuing your own ambitions. You are to be commended for your work and desire to not want to mudsling when lower levels try to provoke you. This is the site for true Cyclone fans. Keep up the good work.

Jeremy,
You have exhibited a great deal of maturity in attempting to reach out and mend the fence with the other Cyclone web sites. It took a great deal of courage to suck it up and do what you did. It speaks volumes for your character. This should put to rest the idiotic comments about your ego. Hopefully certain other site administrators will show as much class as you have.

I really don't know why you feel the need to apologize. My own independent observations on Paul Clark's site led me to make my own conclusion that he was disrespectful towards you and others. I thought his attacks and negative attitude were unfair even before I knew about you and your cite, and I cancelled my subscription. It was obvious that the Cyclone "greater good" was not his priority, which is his perogative, but I am very happy to have an alternative forum that creates a much more positive environment to discuss Cyclone athletics.

While I respect what you are saying and why you are saying it, I don't think you have to apologize for anything.
You simply said what was on your mind, talked about something that was bothering you, and you had the stones to say it.

I still don't understand what your motivation is to maintain this site. It seems like a lot of work that goes way beyond a love of the Cyclones.
Regardless of the reasons, there is nothing to gain by feuding with the other sites. All the Cyclone sites are good places, each serving their constituents in a different way. Ultimately the forums with the most visitors (not most posts) will be determined by the quality of the discussions.
Long gone are the days where you could read every post on the most popular sites. Many people prefer to hang out just with other Cyclone fans. Personally I like the interaction with respectful people from Big 12 and other schools like you get on TigerBoard. The little logo icons on TigerBoard are a cool way to identify people with schools and I think it brings outsiders to their board.

I was hoping for an all-out brawl between CF and CR. Something along the lines of a giant game of dodgeball...Jeremy at the front waving the "fanatic" flag...Paul's toupee getting jettisoned following a ball facial...maybe even a wheezing Steve Deace leading the CN charge into the fray....Jon Miller could keep score. At least it would be something until football starts.
