MH: Cyclones in Youngstown for National Tournament

The Cyclone Hockey team practiced today in Youngstown, OH in preparation for the national tournament beginning tomorrow night. The Cyclones will play West Chester University at 8 PM EST and the game will be web-casted live at achahockey.org. There will be live audio AND video so you can check out all the great action from the comfort of your own home.

I'm sitting here with Zach Hargis, Defenseman from Madison, WI. The big 6-4, 250 lb "I look for West Chester to be a speedy east-coast team," he said. "You really don't know what to expect from a team we've never played before.

He also said that the team should focus on their game and what they've accomplished so far and continue to build on it. Hargis said, "We finished strong in our last tournament, so I think we have good momentum. Everyone should be fresh heading into the game."

I can tell you that the team is ready to go. They are focused, confident, and loose. That goes a long way as we head into the tournament.

West Chester is a quality team with some offensive threats. They've knocked off Penn State (#1 seed) and Rhode Island (#4 seed, defending national champs) earlier in the regular season. We'll have a comprehensive post game recap tomorrow night.

Check out the webcast! It's free! And cheer on your Cyclones as they take on the Golden Rams of West Chester tomorrow night at 8 PM EST. If you have any well wishes to post, I'll be sure to pass them along.

Conquer Cyclones!!!

Just sitting here at home getting ready for tommorrow by watching the Red Wings take it to Chicago at Chicago. It's 4-0 but going a little slow due to the frustration penalties.

Its 4-1 with 1:00 to play so maybe the charges and roughing will go away.

I sincerely hope the Cyclones control the competition the way Detroit did tonight.

STRAP IT UP TIGHT AND GET IT ON!!!!!

There's already been a couple big games today. #4 Rhode Island held off #13 West Virginia 5-3. #5 Oklahoma was upset by #12 Delaware 2-1. #2 Ohio's in trouble down 2-1 against #15 Michigan-Dearborn going into the third.

Five and a half hours to go!

It looked like Ohio was going to be upset by Michigan-Dearborn but they pulled the goalie and scored with a minute and a half remaining to take it to overtime. OT starts in about 11 minutes.

I'm guessing there are 16 teams in the national tournament. What seed did we get?

Ohio's out! No. 2 Ohio and No. 5 Oklahoma are eliminated and we've only played four games!

DevilDog, Iowa State is the No. 6 seed, but they're very strong for their seeding. They'll play No. 11 West Chester at 7:00pm.

Another upset, No. 10 Oakland comes back from a 3-1 third period deficit to win 5-4 in regulation.

The 10th, 12th and 15th seeds are still alive; No. 4 Rhode Island is the only favorite to advance thus far.

And now the top seed Penn State is having a scare from No. 16 Robert Morris. All tied up at one a piece going into the overtime.

Edit: Penn State scored in overtime to survive the scare. It bodes well for other teams that have to face them if Robert Morris can take them to the wire. This tournament is totally up for grabs, you can't look past anyone!

Jesus, this webcast is terrible quality. It's tiny resolution and who webcasts a hockey game from the CORNER of the rink with the net obstructing an already poor view?
