If he talks his brother into coming over, I think he'd be more beneficial to Brackins, Thompson, Jiri, and Marsden.

Re: Iowa State Men's Basketball Class of 2007

Consider this...in an early non-conference game next year G-Mac starts... (try not to get twisted up with who is listed where, just visualize the number of players that can see the floor)

McIntosh
Taylor
Clark
W. Johnson
Hubalek

Subs for the game include...

Dunson
C. Johnson
Marsden
Thompson
Brackins
Garrett
Staiger
Brister

We already know the first 9 guys listed (5 starters and first 4 subs) can already play minutes. We expect good things early from Garrett and Brackins - up to 11. Got the other 2 listed and you're up to 13. If Boozer somehow plays a factor in the first year - 14.

I firmly believe we're going to see, in most games, 9-11 guys playing at least a few minutes.

After what we've gone through for quite some time now, it'll be nice to know that our season won't be over with one small injury. The greatest attribute about GMac and his philosophy is that he wants great people and players that are going to make sure they become better. We should have no problems with underachievers and I think the quality of recruits will only lead to incredible times in a few short years. Heck, the players he's already brining in could have beat the crap out of last year's team:)

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

All this in G-Mac's first real recruiting year following a recruiting period of "oh crap I'm losing everyone, I gotta go find some bodies".

Now we still don't know if and how many guys may be leaving us after this year on top of our seniors - but I really like what I'm seeing. I'm going to hold judgment on what I hope to see from us next season until the dust settles post-season...yet I do have some nice hopes for us.

It scares me that you mentioned how it will impact Buckely. Buckley sounds like a great guard for us to get a hold of. Hopefully he is not going anywhere.

That flagged with me as well. Looking forward to the read Chris.

I didn't want to start a new thread on this, but is tomorrow's game only on ESPNU or will Iowa State students be able to see it?

No way, the teams with Hoiberg, Meyer were much deeper. Right now we have 1 big 12 forward, and a big 12 shooting guard.. I am not getting my hopes up on all the new recruits, I get excited every year when I hear about how awesome the new guys are and then I watch a Taggert come in and just completely flame out. Remember how excited everyone was for McIntosh and Dodie, they are good players, but have not lived up to the hype. They could live up to the hype someday, but it will take some work. I am still expecting ISU to struggle next year to finish in the top 1/2 of the big 12.

Has there been any information out as to whether these guys have all qualified academically.
I guess the guy that I am most worried about is Brackins, since he is at his 3rd school in 3 years which can be a red flag.

TV Affiliates: ESPNU, WOI (Ames/Des Moines), KFXA (Cedar Rapids/Waterloo), KYOU (Ottumwa), Mediacom (Sioux City)

So, if you're a student, you'll find the game on channel 5.

I really hope that these incoming guys are good enough to put Clark on the bench for most of the game. I'd be all for him coming off the bench for a few minutes a game to provide a spark, if he realizes that he is not a 3 point shooter. Other than that him playing lots of minutes would be bad for the team.

Rahshon had some pretty solid stats last year, and his highlight reel was electrifying. Did you even watch him play last season? What he really needs is some other good scoring options to free himself up a little to do what he does best. He was much better off with somebody that could create a shot for him rather than relying on his offensive abilities to create for himself. If he is on the bench next year, the only reason I will be happy is that it must mean that we brought in some real studs to jump ahead of him on the depth chart. He still is as physically talented as anybody on our roster, and another off-season with Coach Mac will do him a world of good.

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”
