Hoiberg's senior year, we essentially had a rotation of 7 players - Hoiberg, Meyer, Michalik, Beechum, Hayes, Holloway, and Hamilton. A decent group, but not our best. I think the posters are meaning that when you potentially have a line-up of 9-10 deep that can play, that is depth we haven't enjoyed here in a long time. To go 9-10 deep on the Hoiberg team you got into players like Joe Modderman and Donnell Bivens. If you want to go back to the 80's sweet sixteen team that had young talent like Elmer Robinson and Lafester Rhodes who didn't play much because of the talented starters, that makes for a better argument.

Last year Clark averaged 13.1 points, made 45 threes, shot 37% on 3's.
This year 6.4 points, made 16 threes, shot 25% on 3's.
If his offense next year can get back to what it was as a sophomore we will be in great shape.

Hey man, back off my boy Modderman. He was my dad's all-time favorite Clone. There was a game where Orr was in the hospital so Hallihan took over coaching and Modderman actually got to play some and hit a few threes. My dad has been convinced ever since the Hallihan is pure genius for giving his favorite player a chance to play.

True, but I think Beechum on this team would be the #1 scorer, I still am sceptical that ISU has the talent to compete in the big 12 right now. Hopefully these new guys will change that, but until I actually see it I am sceptical.

I remember 2 years ago at this time everyone was looking for a big12 championship the next year because we had an all world guy named Taggert coming in. He was more hyped than even Brackins.

I firmly believe a significant part of Taggart's flameout was the complete lack of coaching discipline. Not to say Tag is without blame.

I just think he would be good with a very disciplined coach such as the guy we have in Ames.

MCD always liked to run 10-11 players, bringing them in one at a time. Maybe with all the guards we can find a dependable shooter. The writeup did not indicate we had a pure point guiard in the four - more shooters and dtivers. Looks like AT gets an academic schollie this year, none nexty year, maybe one the following senior year. Brock will not be able to get on the court.

I won't feel good about the depth of the team until we have an all Big XII team player coming off the bench as the sixth man. (See Kansas, Collins)

we are going to have one crowded backcourt and what seems to be a thin frontcourt in a couple years. I hope GMac has a plan for all those PGs hes gonna have (Buckley, Garret, Dunson, Brister)...

Looks like a decent class. Brackins would appear on the surface to be the "player" in the bunch. Garrett and Staiger look like they have solid potential. Boozer would appear to be riding on big brother's coat tails...really was not recruited by marquis programs. As for Brister...what is his grade situation? Southern usually goes after guys that they think can play but may struggle to get enrolled into schools in major conferences.

As for the discussion of depth. The best thing about depth is that you have much better practices that will better prepare the team for game situations. As far as depth playing you will find that, with rare exception, most teams play 7 or 8 guys regularly (10 plus minutes). Very few teams play 9, 10, or 11 guys!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

You might not feel good about the depth for a long time then. Not many teams in the country will have a guy like him coming off the bench.

Clark like everyone on the team will go back to finding much easier ways to score..

Taylor, Clark, Jiri, Ross, Wesley and so on will all find it MUCH easier to score with a great PG.

Go Clones! Go Knights!

Did Brock run over your dog or steal your girlfriend or something? My gosh, he's had a rough year, but every post you have comes back to something about hating Brock or sitting him on the bench. I'm picturing you sitting a few rows up in the stands behind our bench just heckling Streff, Currie, Bergstrom and the rest of our walk-ons too because they aren't the superstars you thought they'd be when they came to ISU and paid their way just to be on your team. Whatever wrong he's committed against you in the past, please forgive and forget!

Not to mention Taggart's complete lack of anything resembling a work ethic!! I don't think I have seen someone with as much potential as he had, being as lazy as he was!!

Bench Warmer

Re: Iowa State Men's Basketball Class of 2007

In my opinion, the key to next year's success has much less to do with the incoming players and more to do with the current guys continuing to develop both skills wise and physically. If Juri continues to grow into that true 5 role, Marsden, WJ and CM gets in the gym and gets more physical, MT working on ball control, etc. Bench depth is, of course, very important as well so the new guys certianlly have a role to play.

Dunson isn't a pt. guard.
