Update On Job Search
Jeremy - Site Owner
A while has passed since I last updated everybody on my job search so I thought I would take a few minutes to get that out of the way, sorry to those of you that don't care:)
While I had been considering a prospective position externally, I stopped submitting applications and interviewing internally at my present employer. I had looked at and interviewed with one external company, and applied for and interviewed for two positions internally.
For the external position that I interviewed for, had been offered, and thought about very intently, I decided I wanted to pass on it and look further internally before starting over at a new company that I wasn't certain about. I have been with my current employer for two years and 3 months so I didn't want to give that up and start over off the street in a completely new type of environment that I wasn't sure was well suited for me.
Regarding the internal positions; the first one I didn't take because of money concerns, the second one is still in the open interview stage so I won't know about it for a while. I have applied for and will interview for a third position internally and will be in that interview tomorrow morning. That position just opened so it obviously wouldn't be decided upon for quite a while.
As far as an update to my current position, our department is officially being disbanded on December 31st but we are down to 8 employees from the 30 that we had before the announcement was made that our department was going away (due to attrition). Luckily we have 2,500 people in our two buildings so there are some opportunities within the company to pursue.
My last department at my current employer was also disbanded and that is why I had the opportunity to be promoted to my current position. Now that this job is going away, I have been offered bonuses and incentives to stay with the department to the end and then take another position within the company. Only time will tell if the right position is out there within the organization at the right time. I'm a loyal person so I really have no intention of leaving the company unless I really feel I need to, or the perfect situation arises.
Keep your fingers crossed, hopefully the right opportunity will present itself at the right time. I really don't like the ups and downs that go along with job hunting so the sooner that opportunity presents itself, the better:)
I hope everybody understands the lack of updates on the frontpage while I try to concentrate on this personal issue. Luckily (for me) there haven't been a lot of stories that need posted to the frontpage. I haven't forgotten about all of you and hope everybody understands why I haven't been quick to respond to things over the past week or so. Hopefully the updates will get back to their frequent nature in the near future.

The job search thing is crazy, loveable and hate-able. Good luck on the search and have a lot of confidence.
Also keep in mind- if you walk into an interview and you need an extra "gimmick" to get over - just tell the person that you can get 2000 emails to them in 24 hours. We can do that easily.
