To think Corey's loss isn't creating at least some sort of hole is naive, IMO. Corey improved a lot, especially at the end of the year. While Garrett looks to be a better player - there will be an adjustment period for him. Plus, we don't even know what he'll turn out to be at this level.

We already knew what we had in Corey, a steady player that continued to improve and didn't make a lot of mistakes.

We're still in the mode of needing experienced bodies to be on the court. We just lost one.
Disagree. This move is best for all parties. As odd as it sounds, I think letting two freshman PG's battle it out from the beginning is really exciting and will ultimately make us a better team. Corey may have improved some at the end of the season, but IMO, he was never going to be a big contributor next year, regardless of his one year of Big 12 experience.

What graduation rate, we just pump em through as fast as we can Graduate, what good doe that do

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

So right now for scholarships are we full if we are giving Thompson one with the possibility of one more person for 07 if Thompson stays a walk on this year? If this is true would this give us a chance at Hamga with the chance of him getting into a college as early as next year?!

I just want to make sure people don't think I'm baging on Corey, I think he's a great guy but I think our team will evolve past him. Having the fight for minutes among our new guards will be the best thing for them. Now they know they all have a legit shot at starting if they work hard enough.

Re: MBB: McIntosh To Transfer

Dodie isn't a point guard. McIntosh wasn't going to get all conference accolades, but people are talking about dancing with this team next year. Not many teams do that with a freshman point guard, along with all of our other youth. I never bought into the tourney hype, but I think this definitely set us back a little at least temporarily.

My question is will someone redshirt, or will we have a five guard rotation of Taylor, Brister, Garrett, Dunson, Staiger?

Staiger could get some time at the 3 maybe with his size, but that will be where Wes is and we still need to find minutes for Rahshon.

This much depth is a good problem to have, but I don't know how it's going to play out.

Re: MBB: McIntosh To Transfer

Dodie can play the point pretty well for his size and speed. I think we'll see some of our new combo guards sharing minutes but we don't necessarily need just a true point like Corey if they can't also supply some points and/or create shots. He wasn't able to do either.

Corey is a standup guy with good work ethic; it's always an honor to have players of his character. Best of luck to him. I enjoyed watching him play.

If Dodie can play the point, then why didn't we have him play the point last year?

There was a reason we were forced to play Mike out of position like we all heard throughout the season. When Dodie came in for McIntosh, he played the two.

Dodie hasn't shown much signs as being a floor general. He didn't prove to be much of a drive and dish kind of guy. Maybe that will develop, but he definitely didn't play like a point guard last year.

I'll just agree to disagree because I think Dodie is going to be a great floor general. He has great vision and he's always trying to learn and get better. It might not have looked perfect this season but he was a true freshman with not a lot of talent that could create for themselves.

Given the right time, I think Dodi will be a steller all around player.

I am way way surprised by this. This one got came out of no where. This kind of sucks as it would've been nice to start Rahson, Jiri, Mike, and Corey as seniors. Oh well hopefully Marcus and Diante are ready to step it up.

What?! Will Blalock is one of the best points in school history, period. Maybe even the most purely talented. He had speed, vision, and with the right coach to teach him some discipline, could've been THE best point in ISU history.

Dodie is a solid athlete, but he doesn't have the speed, confidence, or instincts to become a point guard. He was a slightly modified version last year of Tasheed Carr...a guy who shot threes almost exclusively and didn't do much penetrating. Garrett is our point of the future, and Dodie is much more suited as a shooter two.

He'll be missed, but I think the team will still be better than they were this year. Dodie has shown he can play big boy bball at times. Garret will step up. I liked Corey, but I'm still pumped for next year.

OK, you cought me, that was an inflated statement:) I changed it. While I think he'll be a great leader, he probably won't be near what Blalock was.

Anyways, I do with McIntosh the best and hope he finds a great path for success.

Don't forget the 6th and 7th boys in the band...Clark and Charles "Don't call me Carlos" Boozer. Plus we'll still have Wesley's favorite whipping boy, Brock

Honestly, I think Clark will show a lot of improvement in being able to create his own shot during a full offseason with Mac, Boozer can shoot (especially from the stripe), and I don't think Brock will play, but I don't want to shoot him, urinate on him, and light him up like some people seem to want to do.

All that said, I still think it hurts us (especially early on) to lose CMac. As somebody else said, at least we knew we had a solid guard that wasn't going to make stupid mistakes.
