I would think this might mean that Corey will be going down a division, which would not require sitting out a year.

Not doubting too much, but do you have a source for that? The Brister pick up does make a lot more sense with this development.

Where would Corey go? Back to California? Drake? UNI? The last four games he played real well. Maybe once he decided to leave his game picked up.

Dodie is a solid athlete, but he doesn't have the speed, confidence, or instincts to become a point guard. He was a slightly modified version last year of Tasheed Carr...a guy who shot threes almost exclusively and didn't do much penetrating. Garrett is our point of the future, and Dodie is much more suited as a shooter two. I thought I had read the long term plan was Buckley as the future point guard with Garrett sliding to the 2. He isn't there until 2008, so not in the mix for next year. It will be fun to watch the big man recruiting this year as by next year, we will have depth at guard.

I also think this isn't a huge hole to fill. Sure Corey improved during the season...but he improved from a bad Big 12 guard to a slightly below average Big 12 guard. We would crap our pants when he scored 10 points and had 4 assists.
That being said, I wish him all the best back in California.

Just remember that it's still extremely early in the spring and we can still have further departures. I'm sure the staff is trying to get a good feel on exactly who *might* want to leave so they can make sure they know if we have an extra scholarship or two.
Unfortunately the season's ripe with change and we can't count all our eggs until the staff has made sure they're not cracked.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

Not sure what kind of impact players you can get at this point but just some kind of depth right now would help. I'm guessing this means Boozer won't redshirt if we have Garrett, Brister, Taylor? and Dodie as the only gaurds on the roster. I'm guessing Staiger can play some 2 as well I bet.

From what I heard, Mac is very high on Brister. He likes his ability to control the ball and get it to people that can score. His weakness is his outside shot. But he does have the size to take the contact of the Big 12 and maintain control. I look for him to get alot of playing time. I also heard that Mac is expecting 1 more player to be gone by the start of the season.

It was hard enough for G-Mac to put together the class for last season. We've got one that's leaving and another with behavior issues. There is speculation that other(s) will leave too - this speculation doesn't exist just here.
G-Mac seemingly is going to have a much tougher off-season than he should have.

Given the right time, I think Dodi will be a steller all around player. Apparently our coach thought that a player that lead the country in turnovers and set a school record was a better point guard than Dodie.
