Hamga to Ames??? Not Quite...Plus More !

Fanatics,
Everybody wants to know about the Beas Hamga situation. I've got it covered in today's Ames Trib in my weekly column. Below is the link.

http://www.midiowanews.com/site/tab6...d=554517&rfi=6

Also, I've linked a piece from today's paper breaking down Coach Chizik's stance on competition, specifically taking a look at the QB's on Iowa State's roster. Hope you all enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.

You seem to throw Dinc out of the mix as well, which doesn't totally disappoint me.

Thanks Chris!!

"While it's unlikely that Hamga will be a factor, the staff is continuing the trend of offering '08 big men as the summer months approach. The latest is Brett Thompson, a 6-11, 265-pound center from Vienna, Ill. Thompson has offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, Bradley, Southern Illinois and Missouri State, according to Rivals.com. "

It would be nice to land someone with that kind of size.

"One more thing; even though Corey McIntosh is leaving ISU, don't expect the Cyclone coaching staff to comb the junior colleges for a point guard. In fact, don't plan on seeing another juco transfer at ISU for a long time."

I like that McDermott is trying to rely less on JUCOs and more on preps.

I agree. If I had to guess I think it will be a long time before another JUCO prospect steps on the floor of Hilton, unless something unplanned happens and it's an emergency.

I guess that ends the speculation on Cem Dinc from MCC!!

Thompson sounds like a good prospect. Definitely has the size!

If we do get this Thompson kid, I really hope he has the attitude to play down low. I really like his size but if he is timid with the ball or "soft", I think we should pursue someone else. I really want an aggressive big man down low.

Yeah, and if he didn't write this, all the questions about if we were still after would be out there. If Philip Bates suffered a career ending injury before he set foot on campus, or decided to not play football, would you expect the media to ignore it since it'd be about a guy that has no impact on the future?

We got two articles from Chris today. One on hoops recruiting and one on our QB's.

Hard to complain about that.

Some people just like to complain.

Great read on the QBs!

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Wow...somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Here's the deal...I wrote the column because I feel that one of the top prospects in the country who is roomates with a future Cyclone is important. Obviously it was due to the amount of Beas Hamga threads that have been started all over the net in the past week.

The QB article was assigned to me. Writers don't just write about whatever they want. You get assignments and you do them. That's the job. Thanks for your input.
