I am kind of surprised that the Ohio State game is not on national television.

I want to know where in the heck that school came from:)

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Lake Superior State is Coached by Mike Fitzner (Wayne State Player for Mac) and Brady Larson (U N Dakota Player) Both either Played or were recruited by Mac in his Div 2 Days of Coaching.

Edit: Also the Wayne State Exhibtion Game Coach Rico Terry Burkett has played for Mac and Coached with him.

Why did we schedule Savannah State? Their record was 2-28 last year!

Probably just for that reason. The coaching staff has talked a lot about mixing in easy games with tough games. You see an easy (hopefully) game like Savannah State but then have tough games like UNI, Iowa, Ohio State, and Minnesota. It helps build confidence and experience at the same time.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

What kinda scares me is North Dakota State U...they're on the transition to Div 1 basketball, and have a pretty capable team. They beat Wisconsin in Madison last year.

One of those games you hope they don't take lightly.

Lake Superior, ND State and SE Missou are break games, but it looks like students can actually watch the Challenge this year.

I really like this schedule. Mac can see what his guys can do and coach them up before the Big12 season starts. In past years it seemed we were always still unsure of how the team would perform when facing good teams. Then when the Big12 started there was always a time of adjustment. Hopefully that adjustment period is against tOUSU, Minn., UNI, and UI. I wouldn't really care if we went 0-4 in those if it got us ready for league play.

It truly is an awful home schedule.

Why not schedule a couple tough opponents? How about Illinois? Mich St? Memphis?

Give the paying fans their money's worth. If we're gonna lose to Fresno St at home---why not lose to Illinois instead?

Because, the paying public will not come to games where we are going to get destroyed, just for the sake of seeing Illinois play. They can just watch that on TV. I'm all for playing strong schedules, but this is not the year to do that. The Big 12 is tough enough, let's give these kids a chance to get some confidence.

Would I prefer Minnesota at home, absolutely.

But, I don't mind going to Louisana-Monroe, Sevannah State, and insert any other directional school here, to see these kids have fun and win.

I see us possibly going 11-3 non-conference. That means we need to go 8-8 to have a shot at the NCAA. A tougher non-conference schedule, at this team has no shot to get into the NCAA and attendance for the Big 12 games will suffer from the beginning. Get some wins, give the public some confidence, get people in the seats at the start of the Big 12, let the momentum begin to build.
