Talking Cyclone Fan Fest - Aug. 20th

Release from ISU...

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State’s Athletics Department is reaching out to its future.

The first Cyclone Fanfest – a free, interactive festival for Cyclone fans and their children – takes place August 20 from 1-3 p.m. at the Bergstrom Indoor Practice Facility (located west of the Jacobson Athletics Building).

“The future of Cyclone Athletics is the children of our great Cyclone fans,” Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “Creating a free opportunity for our fans to pose for a photo with Cy, talk to head coaches or test skills in a variety of athletics exhibits is a way for us to say ‘thanks’ for your support while at the same time creating lasting memories for children.”

All 18 Iowa State sports teams, featuring coaches and student-athletes, will be present for both skill demonstrations and challenges.

Here are a few additional event features that will be pleasing to your favorite young Cyclone:
  • Cy and the spirit squads will be on hand for photos;
  • inflatable attractions (including the obstacle course, bouncer and football throw) will be set up;
  • football autograph session;
  • interactive stations for every Cyclone sport;
  • concessions and a picnic area.
If you have questions about Cyclone Fanfest, call (515) 294-3558.

Great ideas come out from this AD and his department on a weekly basis. I continued to be impressed. With the previous administration, an idea like this would be ground-breaking and BVDV would see this as his crowing achievement. With JP, it's just another step towards his ultimate goal.

I encourage everyone to donate to the athletic department, planned expansion, etc. if you are financially able. I'm a huge cheapskate but I really, really believe in JP and his goals and have already joined the NCC and will be donating to the planned expansions as well. I feel very, very comfortable in our leadership.

Too bad it's only 1-3, 1-5 would be nice. But it is free, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Half of life is ****ing up; the other half is dealing with it.

I think it is another great move by the Athletic Department. It is a great way to showcase not only the "Power" sports, but also the olympic sports.
