Actually swinging something to play golf, and to bowl, and fish, are those games as cool as they seem to be?

The bowling is very well done. I think golf game on wii sports kind of stinks, but there is a new golf game coming out that looks pretty good.

The other must have accessory is the rechargeable battery pack, wiimotes chew through AA's like you would not believe.
Get Wii Play, it's only $5 more than a remote, and it comes with a remote. The games on it aren't spectacular, but certainly worth $5. They're good games for helping you get familiar with the controls and motions, and kids would probably enjoy them for quite awhile. Then just get a second nunchuck for about $10. I couldn't agree more about the rechargable battery packs.

Re: Mario Kart

I'll second Super Mario Galaxy. My son and I have fun with Lego Star Wars too. It could be considered too violent for a 5/6 yr old if you think smashing a human shaped lego into pieces is violent

Wii Play is worth the $5 or so more than a remote by itself.

Re: Mario Kart

Do NOT get Cosmic Family or the Orb game (can't recall the full name). Both really suck.

I have heard Elebits is a good family oriented game.

Re: Mario Kart

Honestly, I wasn't all that into Brawl until I completed Adventure mode and unlocked Sonic. It's all about finding that one character that matches your play style.

Digging a bit deeper, I'm extremely disappointed in Brawl's online support. It had so much potential, but it's hard to get a random game going. There's no leader boards or rankings to achieve. All you can hope to get is more realistic gameplay that is either smarter or dumber than the included AI (depending on who you get)...

I hope Mario Kart cures these woes, otherwise, the Wii is going to quickly show its inability to retain its hype.

Re: Mario Kart

I like the multiplayer in the same room aspect of the Wii better than the online idea of it. I have a 360 for that. The Wii is just fun to play with friends right next to each other.

Only 5 days to go!

Did anyone preoder? Will they have additional "Wii Wheels" available at the time of the release?

Re: Mario Kart

I preordered from Gamestop, we'll see how much of a difference the wheel makes before I get another one. I do just fine at the driving games I've played so far, just holding the controller sideways.

Couple of friends of mine already have it and say that Double Dash for Gamecube is far superior to the new Wii version. They're saying that the weaponry is quite limited in this version and the characters don't really have any "special weapons" that are unique to each. I'll probably be playing it tomorrow night, we'll see. I think they may have just had too high of expectations, but I'll give it a shot.

Hopefully that means the game is more focused on driving than weapons. Give me cars that are fun to drive, power slide, etc. and maybe just a green/red shell, invincibility star, and a couple other basic items and that is my idea of a good Mario Kart game. After all, this game should be all about steering with the remote.

Just got a call from GameStop, they are going to be open at midnight on Saturday for the release! I thought it was Tuesday, but I'll be there Saturday no complaints!
