I know we discussed this briefly in another thread, but there are a ton of videos here:
Gametrailers.com - Mario Kart Wii - E3 2007 Nintendo Press Conference Presentation

That link is the launch announcement, then if you let it play it will show you some game play videos.

Nintendo speeds into spring with Mario Kart Wii at Nintendo :: What's New
Mario Kart Wii is zooming toward its launch in the United States on April 27. The game comes with the intuitive Wii Wheel, which makes it easy for novices to compete against veterans, so no one is left in the dust.
Isn't it sad that I don't think that I have ever been so excited over a game. It's probably due to the fond memories that I have from playing the original on SNES all those years ago.

I still think that no one can beat me on Rainbow Road.

Re: Mario Kart

This one looks fun. Hopefully it is better than smash brothers...

Re: Mario Kart

Yeah... I am not impressed with Smash Brothers, but I haven't ever played those games in the past, so I'm not too sure what I expected.

Re: Mario Kart

whys smash getting so much hatorade?

i mean, i admit melee seems better as of right now. but thats only because they fixed wave dashing and L canceling and all those other glitches, and they made characters who are imbalanced more balanced.

as time goes by people will get used to the play style and play brawl more addictively and the uproar will start again, im sure of it!

Re: Mario Kart

but after a while the new speed became normal for me. just takes time i guess.

Re: Mario Kart

According to the Best Buy ad today, there was supposed to be a pre-sale available for Mario Kart today. I went to all 3 BB's in the metro and came back with nothing. At Jordan Creek they said they were out of them, on University the guy didn't even know there was supposed to be a presale but after I showed him the ad, he checked inventory and said they never had any. I didn't see any at Southridge either, but I didn't bother asking anybody there. I guess I'll try my luck at Game Stop, or else plan on getting to BB early on the release date because I have a feeling this game is going to be extremely popular.

On a side note, I can't believe Wii's are still not in stock regularly anywhere.

Patrick who?

Re: Mario Kart

I figured I would just wait a week and get it then. As long as the kids do not know it is out, they will not care. I remember brawl was supposed to be hard to get, but it was pretty easy, and now there are 60 copies everywhere I go.

Of course kart has the little wheel thing, so it may be harder to come by.

Re: Mario Kart

we are thinking of getting a Wii because it seems like something the whole family can have fun with.

Is it really all that people are raving about?

Re: Mario Kart

Jon: How old are your kids? I have twin 4 year olds and they LOVE playing games with me. We play the classic mario kart right now, plus mario galaxy and mario olympics, plus lots of bowling.

The wii is the best family system ever, the controllers are so unique, and once you get used to them, it just works so well. I originally was not that impressed with just wii sports and thought I had wasted $250, and then we got Mario Galaxy, and just have a great time playing it now. Totally worth the investment.

What he said I have 4 and 6 yr olds. We love it.

Re: Mario Kart

Screw that. I bought it for me and I love it. My kids when they are old enough are just an extra bonus =)

5 year old . Sounds like something she would enjoy too.

Now if I can only find someplace that has the system.

What games would you advise we get?

Re: Mario Kart

Galaxy is the MUST have. Don't get Smash Brothers Brawl, it is not that great. Honestly with a 5 year old, you will have a lot of fun for the first few weeks with just wii sports. You will want to get a second nunchuck and controller for you also.

The other must have accessory is the rechargeable battery pack, wiimotes chew through AA's like you would not believe.
