GTA IV

I was at Best Buy today, trying to get a pre-sale for Mario Kart (unsuccessful, see my post in the Mario Kart thread) and I noticed they also had a pre-sale going for GTA IV. I assume you PS3 owners are all pumped for this one? I can remember when GTA III came out for the PS2 in college, my roommates and I were absolutely hooked on that game! Vice City was awesome too, adding motorcycles and planes and helicopters that were easier to fly than the dodo.

San Andreas seemed like a great game at first, with some awesome improvements like the jet, parachutes, etc. Unfortunately it was just a little too "involved" for my tastes and I lost interest. I'm ashamed to say this, but I didn't even unlock the 2nd area. First, you have to eat to keep your character's energy up. No problem, but then you have to exercise so your character doesn't get fat. One night I found myself thinking "I rarely exercise in real life, why am I sitting here pushing buttons to ride an exercise bike and lift weights?" Then you have to get a girlfriend and keep her entertained, again something I haven't put any effort into in real life for quite some time. The final straw for me, was when I was going to start a mission, I kept getting interrupted by gangs attacking my turf, again something I don't usually worry about in real life . Next thing I knew, I realized I hadn't played that game in over a year. I do hope to give it another shot sometime, I was just curious what everyone else thought about SA.

I don't see myself getting GTA IV anytime soon since I don't have a PS3. I also don't see myself buying a PS3 anytime soon. I might consider it if my new tv hadn't come with a free Blu-Ray player. I was just wondering what all you PS3 owners were thinking about the continuation of the GTA series.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

If you have a 360 you can play too. This one is no longer exclusive to Sony.

Oh that's right, I forgot. Don't have a 360 either, just a Wii. I'm a pretty casual gamer these days. I guess GTA is available for PC as well, but I'm not much of a PC gamer either.

GTA could be pretty fun on the Wii, if they scaled back the graphics of course. Driving games are fun on the Wii! Holding the remote and turning it like a steering wheel is great, not to mention the possibilities of beating people up Wii-boxing style! And what about the possibility of using the Mario Kart steering wheel with one hand, and the zapper in the other for drive by's! Not going to happen I know, but that could be fun!

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

In my opinion, it's the best console game I have every played. I absolutely LOVED that game. But I just like the missions and shooting people, I didn't really get in to the girlfriends/working out/ side mission stuff.

Re: GTA IV

I LOVED San Andreas. It was one of my favorite PC games of all time. I still find myself playing it, just because it is so much fun. I actually loaded it on my laptop now since the game does not require much horsepower, and tend to play it when I travel.

I will buy GTA IV if it comes out for the PC, but I am not buying a PS3 for one game. I also have a wii, that gets most of my gaming time anymore. I have to be one of the top 100 mario galaxy players in the US by now. I think I could beat the entire game from the beginning in one day anymore. My 4 year old and I have beat it about 6 times.

Re: GTA IV

I will definitely have to try San Andreas again, but it probably won't be anytime soon. I don't even have my PS2 hooked up right now. I'm still just about half way through Mario Galaxy, first time through. When I first got it around Christmas, I kept sitting down to play it only to play Excite Truck instead. THAT was an addicting game, but I finally finished so now I'm fully focused on Galaxy.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

Re: GTA IV

Wait till you get to Luigi's purple coins. That level took me 60 guys the first time, now I can do it in like 2 or 3.

Congrats for conquering a game that 4-year-olds can beat.

I actually have only played it once. I sat in Best Buy for an hour playing it until my gf dragged me out of there. It was a lot of fun.

So you are one of THOSE that don't share at a stores demo console games, yet play for what seems to be forever.

-keep.

Hey now... it is a 2 player game! it is actually pretty hard to beat some of the levels towards the end.

I'll think about buying it, but i wanna hear what the online play will be like. Most games i play are online since the computer gets a lil boring sometimes. I wanna beat or KILL a real live person/their cpu character.

Maybe that's why it was so hard for me to play the game in best buy. I needed someone else to play with me.

Keep, next time I take up the game at best buy I'll invite you along so you can play with me and we can hog the demo machine for ourselves.

The only time I ever did that was when Treasure Master came out for NES in '91. I must've played that for at least an hour at Wal-Mart. No wait, I also did that for Super Mario World when it first came out for SNES (I thought it was SOOO cool that you could ride Yoshi), but only for a half hour probably. Nobody was waiting behind me either time though...

I never finished San Andreas - lost interest about 2/3 through it. I finished Vice City though... I will probably get GTA VI someday down the road when it's cheaper.

Same with me. Vice city was more compelling. I did not finish SA because I was sick of the gang fights, and having to go back all the time and conquer the same turf over and over.
