3 red lights

So I just got the 3 flashing red lights.... Is there anyone that has had the same thing happen to theirs? Is it worth sending it in over just getting a new one?

Yes, had it happen to me a week ago.

Send it in - you're not paying a dime for it. Go to xbox.com and put in a hardware failure ROL claim. They send you packaging within a couple of days all postage taken care of with instructions how to pack it. This isn't going to cost you a dime - just a couple of weeks of not playing.

Yeah I contacted Microsoft and they told me since I bought my 360 when it first came out I am not covered by the extened warranty. It was gonna cost me $150 for it to get fixed. So I sent it into a company on ebay that fixes them for $50, get it back in 2-3 days money back guarantee. Havnt had any problems with it then all of a sudden it freezes and rings of death, god I hope they get it fixed, GTA4 is coming soon!

How long ago was that?

Seriously - go online to xbox.com and actually look at how their coverage for the ROL extended warranty relates to the serial number on your 360. This is separate from the original warranty (which mine expired in December, but was still covered under the 3 year ROL extended warranty). I have friends that are on their 3rd 360s, and have never had a problem with the ROL extended warranty from Microsoft.

I bought my 360 about the time Halo3 came out. Think I will have this issue eventually?

Harriet Michaels: Do you actually like haggis?
Charlie Mackenzie: No, I think it's repellent in every way. In fact, I think most Scottish cuisine is based on a dare.

Seems like all 360's will eventaully have this problem. Some places are reporting the failure rate at 30%-35%, which is just horrible.

I have first gen one that i got the day it game out at midnight that is still going. I am probably one of the very few that can say this.

Of course, now that I say that, I will go home tonight, fire up Rockband and the console will die. - lol

Yeah I went back and filled it out again and talked to another agent or whatever they are called and said the other guy didnt know what he was talking about basically. I cancelled my other guys repair and microsoft is sending me a box in the next couple of days to be shipped. I just hope now it doesnt take 2 months.

Supposed to take something like 2-3 weeks.

My brother-in-law can say that, and he uses and abuses it more than I did mine...

I got the same information when mine died a month or so ago. I ended up taking off my hard drive and buying a new $269 one. I'm impatient. One thing I did find out though, was that it will flash like that (3 rings) if your A/V cable becomes defective or loose, so you may want to check that first.

They actually have that information on the website. Something about checking the power box and what color the light is. If the light on the power box is orange, the problem is there. If it's green, there's a hardware failure in the 360.

It gets more in-depth about it here: Xbox 360: Three red lights flash on the Ring of Light
