Credits: 596,656 | How about a Wii Newbie 'What to Buy' Thread I appreciate the posts and input on the Mario Kart thread.
So what should a newbie get?
A system obviously. What does that come with, as far as controllers (are those called numchucks?) and games?
How many controllers do you need? What other accessories to get? What other games are a must right away? Are the racing games worth it, with the steering wheel accessories?
Thanks for the help | | |

The system comes with one game, Wii Sports, which has baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, and boxing. The system also comes with one remote and one nunchuck. The remote is the primary controller. The nunchuck plugs into it, which would be the secondary controller for most games. The nunchuck is not needed for all games, and depending on which games you get you may not need a second one right away. You will definitely want a second remote right away though for multiplayer games. Wii Play is comes with a remote and is only $5 more than a remote alone. Wii Play has a few games on it, pretty basic but probably good for kids, and for anybody to get the hang of the Wii's controls. |
Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.
No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Being your a guitar guy, try Guitar Hero. Wireless obviously.
Check out the rechargeable battery packs. I finally got those and so much better than changing the damn things all the time.
Anyone ever get Monkey Balls. I like a lot of the party games it had. And Mario Party is pretty good too. | "You must try to generate happiness within yourself. Monkey Ball is on the discount rack at Targets right now. I had to one for the cube and had a blast with it, so I would assume this one is fun as well. |

The multiplayer game "Bungee Buddies" on it is probably the most fun I've had playing the wii. Drinking may have played a part... | | |
