Re: Virtual Stock Exchange Game

I am still active, though I pulled my money out waiting for a bargain that meets my criteria. That moved me up to third! I have a trade in for tomorrow that will probably send me back down the list.

This market sucks....my bulletproof stock is no longer bulletproof. I think the next 6 months or so are going to be long and dark!

It's been pretty harsh for sure. Almost all of the stocks I have had on my watchlist for the last couple years are taking a bath.

Whoohoo.......if this were real money, well, I wouldn't have the balls to jump on some of these dogs, but man if it were real!

This game makes me thankful that I can't buy individual stocks in my 401K

I say we play a game against our second team players. We would have a closer game! I can't wait to see us shove it down ISU's throats! They are going to need some syrup for all the pancakes we will be getting.---lukestylez (Hawkeye Fan)

Re: Virtual Stock Exchange Game

I'm not sure how sound my strategy is overall, but it sure has been working since I started using it. Since this is just a game, I'll share it.

I've basically been holding my money out of the market, and watching the top ten worst losers at the end of any given day, which are usually down between 15 and 20%. If a company is highly recognizable , and has dropped like that for no apparent reason, or has dropped on reports of good profit which was less than the market anticipated, I go all in the next morning, and then immediately set a sell price of 2 to 4% higher than I purchased it for.

It seems like this type of stock almost always bounces up the next day.

Whatever you're doing it's working well.

Re: Virtual Stock Exchange Game

I'm not sure my strategy would work in a less volatile market, but good companies are getting sucked down with the overall market, and the slightest bit of negative news is enough for them to drop. A good example was Ebay yesterday......it was down 15% or more on quarterly profit not meeting projections, even though they held their overall yearly projections. I jumped in and out and made some good money on the bounce.

I saw that.......you're rocketing up the charts! I thought about jumping on Citigroup (up 8% today) but decided to sit today out. If I'm going to jump on something right now, it's not so likely to be a bank.

I'm going "all in" with the XM/Sirius merger. There is one vote left that will decide the fate.

Anyone notice that trades are going through really slow now? I put in an order for Ruger Thursday night, and it didn't execute it until it had already risen 3%. Now, I've been trying to sell it, but it's taking forever to cancel my limit order. SELL MORTIMER SELLLLLL
