New shots of Holli @ Jordan Creek

Went to Jordan Creek and shot with Holli after work on Monday. Pretty good day for it. Light kept changing on me - sun going in and out of clouds every 5 minutes - but was a fun challenge.

I only have 2 done so far, will be wrapping more up tonight after my studio shoot.

That shot makes it look much bolder than what it really is. I'll get a shot or two up tonight that show it better. It's actually duplicated on the other side - it's a set of wings.

Okay, I have been wondering about this for awhile but it really got me thinking again after seeing this shoot and the Fergusen shoot the other day. What is the great attraction about covering your body in tattoos? I just don't get it and it really turns me off when I see someone covered. For instance on American Idol, my wife thought the gal with the tattoos was just a fantastic singer but I just couldn't get past the tattoo covered shoulder/arm.

Enlighten me fellow CFers.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of tattoos. I think a few can be neat, but more than that is excessive.

From a photographers perspective, tattoos can be very fun and create some unique looking photos via the body art, lighting, scene, etc. I plan to shoot with Holli again, do some boudoir/glamour stuff and spotlight her back.

I don't get it either, maybe people think it is a badgirl thing. I could not believe how many 20 somethings had tats when we were on vacation. I would say 80% of them had something. I guess I am behind the times.

I'm pushing 40 but I still think some thoughtful, well placed tattoos are cool. I don't like the ho' symbol above the butt crack or the guys with with writing or "pictures" all over their bodies. But, who am I to judge what some thinks is art.

I like the simple tats on a woman. Like kids names in some other language, or something that you want forever. I am not liking the tramp stamp fad or the big wings, or tats on the girls, or tats on ankles.

Tattoos are an "easily exploitable" portion of a person, if you had evil intents. You can tell a lot about a person by their tats.

In the Army, they are very cautious about putting people with tattoos in sensitive positions based on a) lifestyle and b) how easy tattoos are exploitable by intelligence guys. It doesn't seem fair, but the typical person who does ink, does a lot of very predictable things, most of which exhibit a lack of judgement and inability to think of long term consequences.

In interrogation training, they teach analysts to use tattoos against their subject.

In my work in prison, you could tell a lot about someone by their "tats". The funniest ones are the wannabes who do ink to come off as "bad". It's like a big red flag that says, "make me your girlfriend, because I'm so scared of my shadow that I need a tattoo to try look 'mean'".
